Some of you may remember we mentioned our busy Jensen workshop last year, and it hasn’t slowed down in 2021. We’ve become the Jensen Specialists of the UK with a constant set of Jensen 541R and 541S projects passing through our doors on a regular basis. With projects ranging from full nut and bolt restorations […]
The Peony Red Jensen, now finished in paint, has been moved into the workshop to begin its mechanical journey. Our technician Paul is currently fitting new brake lines as the original ones are worn out.
Tom has been working hard to finish the wiring looms on our silver 1959 541R Jensen. He’s linked the main loom to the dash loom and connected up the front loom.
Our 1960 541S Jensen has been continuing its paint process with the bonnet and wings being masked, prepped and primed and the undersides painted black.
As some may know, Gordon has a 1960 541R Jensen that’s being restored with us. Much like the Peony Red Jensen, this full restoration has been nicknamed as the ‘Lilac’ Jensen as Gordon aims for it to be done in a two toned Lilac finish, however that stage is a while off. Chris has recently […]
Tom has been concentrating on re-wiring all the wiring looms in our 1959 Jensen 541R. Currently he is working on the rear and middle looms, laying down fresh wires to link the two underneath.
Our 1961 541S Jensen was having issues with over-heating, but luckily, our classic car technician Paul, put his mind to investigating the issue. He found that the wax seal in the thermostat had gotten stuck. To address this he applied a freeing agent that was left overnight so that he could ‘un-stick’ the seal the […]
We’ve recently re-fitted and lowered the side lights as pictured below. This was a cosmetic change that the customer requested. The pulley mechanism for the dynamometer wasn’t running at the correct speed and therefore was not charging the battery. We sent the pulley away to be modified at Coltec. We’ve now received it back so […]
As Jensen specialists, we love seeing Jensens of all kinds represented and discussed online, but our particular favourites, the 541 series are rarely talked about. Car and Classic have just featured an interesting in-depth article about the history of Jensen 541’s. You can read it here. John Byrne, the author of the article delves deep […]
We’ve created a simple video walk around for our client to see his almost finished Jensen. As he lives in Germany it means that it isn’t very easy for him to pop over and see his car. We thought it would be easiest to send this in-depth video so that he can see what’s been […]
Our lovely silver 1959 541R Jensen brake pipes have been refurbished, as well as the kingpins and bushes rebuilt by our technician Paul.
Paul has been working on some of the mechanisms in the navy 1961 541S Jensen. He’s stripped down the front suspension ready for new parts. He’s also sorted through the hand brake components which are now ready for assembly. The new brake pipes have been made and fitted to the rear brakes and run from […]
This lovely 1958 Jensen 541R will soon be up for sale with us however there are a few issues that need attending to first. First of all, the Dynamo needs to be refurbished as although it technically works fine, there’s a small charging fault with it. There’s an issue with the water pump which has […]
Our 1960 Jensen 541R is currently in the final, final stages. It is currently sat in the paint shop for some minor corrections as we believe that perfection is the only option when it comes to our restorations. On its road test, our Jensen performed well and only showed small teething issues but otherwise its […]
Our lovely Grey 1967 541R Jensen has had some alterations done to the doors. We have cut the lip of the nearside and outer-side doors so that the door cards will fit. We’ve then re-welded and re-fitted the outer-side door chrome and made sure the door closes and opens, and the windows slide up and […]
Gordon’s (soon to be) Lilac Jensen 541R is currently being prepped for paint. Trevor is smoothing out any bumps and cracks as well as applying spray on primer and filler before the first layers of paint is applied.
Joerg Huesken, the owner of our lovely 1957 Jensen 541R and the 1960 Jensen 541R has recently shared some photo updates on Facebook and we’re delighted to have the shout out! Click here to see his post!
We weren’t kidding when we said we’re Jensen specialists! We’ve welcomed another beautiful Jensen into the workshop this week. This 1959 Silver Jensen 541R has come in for a diagnosis on the engine. We’ve assessed the vehicle and have discovered a list of faults including the need for new core plugs, new rocker shaft and […]
Our 1958 Navy Jensen 541R has recently been up and running however we noticed that there was a petrol leak in the float of the carburettor as well as a leak in the clutch pipe. Once these elements have been repaired, we can take this Jensen out onto the road to see how it drives. […]
The front suspension is back together on our 1958 Jensen 541R. The modifications have concluded with the brake flex pipe has been relocated to avoid touching the wheel. The suspension spring strength had to be reduced to allow work to be done on it to ensure the component wasn’t under too much pressure.
The Black 1960 Jensen 541R is now up and running for the first time. Our workshop manager, John, took it out for a quick spin to see how it runs and determine what needs to happen next. After taking it for a spin, all that’s left now is to fine tune the clutch, set up […]
Our 1958 541R Navy Jensen is almost ready to leave again. We’re currently waiting for the wheel to come back after being cleaned as its currently sitting in overspray. We also have a few paint corrections to finish and polish as well as road testing it. We’ve serviced it for some general faults too which […]
We were featured in the November-December 2020 issue of Jensen’s Owners Club Magazine for a Jensen 541S we restored a few years back for Ronald Everaert who recently wrote a piece for the magazine about his Jensen. One of our favourite parts of restoring cars is being able to see the owners enjoy their pride […]
Black Jensen 541R has had its horns repositioned to ensure that they miss the radiator which has now been repositioned for the electric fan . Then a new bonnet safety catch was fitted.
Our 1962 Gold and Burgundy Jensen 541S has had its cylinder head reconditioned after multiple cracks were discovered that was causing water and oil to mix. The cylinder was removed and sent off for a pressure test at Coltec where the cracks were discovered. The cylinder head was then unleaded and replaced.
Dave, one of our incredible classic car experts has built a custom-made adjustable door lock for the 1960 Jensen 541R. These parts never look much, and often on cars of this age they’re impossible to obtain. Therefore, our talented team of mechanics and classic car restoration experts often manufacture their own components. Struggling to find […]
Both our 1957 and 1960 Jensen 541R’s had an upgrade in steering system this week. John, our classic car workshop manager explained, “It’s a like-for-like exchange really. We take the old steering column out and replace with power steering.” In some other cars this process can be much more complex, but for the Jensen’s it’s […]
Restoration work continues on the black 1960 Jensen 541R. This week the brakes have been given some special attention by our classic car expert technician Paul. “I’ve refurbished the handbrake caliper,” explains Paul, “then fitted the repaired unit back into place.” Next stop – the trim shop.
Our 1957 Jensen 541R needed her chrome components re-plated, so we instructed the expertise of our good friends over at Douglas Metal Finishing. In a few weeks we eagerly received back our bright shiny parts, including a bonnet grill, window chromes and the Jensens iconic ‘541’ badge. Looking forward to seeing these fixed back in […]
