Another busy week was flown by again, with lots of new drop-offs to the workshop and big progressions on current projects! Grey 1957 Jensen 541R
We’ve been taking apart the rear axle on our green Jaguar E-Type Series 1 so that we can rebuild it back up to performance. Scott has been rebuilding the wheel bearings so that he can fit new ones.
Our Jaguar E-type Roadster that’s in for a full restoration is currently sat in the paint shop in epoxy primer. Matt and Chris will then need to shape up the body by applying filler to make sure the body is smooth and perfect without any dents.
Scott has been rebuilding the rear axel for our 1973 White E-type Roadster. Everything has been replaced, refurbished and rebuilt to create a perfectly functioning rear axel.
James has also been doing some lead work on the E-Type as he works on fixing holes left by removing American modifications.
Chris has also rubbed down and primed the bonnet as well as the wheel arch on the bonnet which has been stripped of underseal and cleaned ready for epoxy primer. He’s then applied epoxy primer to bits for the bonnet.
Scott has been dismantling more Jaguar E-Type elements and started to clean up and organise them ready for refitting. He’s sorted through the chrome and found out which parts needed repairing and re-chroming. Having come in as a working car, this 1973 Jaguar E-Type Roadster needs very little in the way of new parts and is simply needed to be dismantled so that Scott can clean up the parts and make small modifications.
We’ve also sent more parts off to be sandblasted.
Having spent a lot of its life across the pond in sunny California, it’s only natural to find American modifications on our 1973 Jaguar E-Type Roadster Series 3, however, now back on home soil, parts such as rubber bumpers can be converted back to British/European standard. James has welded up all the holes and repaired the dents which had previously been filled, resulting in poor symmetry on the front.
Scott has started to to disassemble the front suspension components ready to be refurbished as well.
Pricey has scraped the body shell, removed the under sealer and sound deadening for media blasting. Pricey told us that the condition of the E-Type body is immaculate and holds very little rust for the age of the car.
Our 1970 Jaguar E-Type V12 is back in the workshop after its hiatus at Bentwaters whilst we waited for the chrome bumper to come back. Mauro has dedicated his morning to carefully applying the chrome bumper, making sure it fits and it’s perfectly cleaned.
The next step is to run the E-Type through a general service and send it back home!
Along with the bumper, we also received other chrome parts back for our Jaguar such as the front grill surround which Mauro has also fitted.
Mauro has also installed the steering rack tie rod ends which had been replaced as well as a new clutch slave cylinder.

Our trim shop expert Brian has been working on our grey 1957 Jensen 541R. He’s been marking out the leather for the rear parcel shelf and then glueing leather.
When the fabric has been marked out and fitted, the next stay is to trim off the excess around the window edge. The leather for rear quarter panel pockets has also been cut out and glued into the pockets.
The same process has happened for the side window surround panel which included screwing the parts in place and fitting the ashtray.
Our engine specialist Ady has taken about the engine on our 1934 Austin Nippy. We’ve identified that there seems to be an issue with the cylinder bores. After further inspection, Ady diagnosed the issue as possible broken or cracked piston rings. This is a relatively quick job and Ady told us he hopes it’ll be done in the next few days.
We often find that even after an issue is addressed, it may not be solved as it’s common to find teething problems afterwards. We hope this quirky nippy will be back to working order again soon!
Our black 1960 Jensen 541R has had another layer of fresh paint and imperfection corrections that it’s acquired from knocks and bumps in the workshop. Gaining imperfections like this are common when parts are regularly being fitted and moved.
This beautiful gold 1971 Jaguar E-type V12 Series 3 had picked up some sort of contaminant that had rusted the inner engine and wheel components. Our skill technicians addressed the issue by applying acid rust killer and cleaning down all of the parts. They were then re-painted and reassembled. Some of the nuts and bolts were also completely replaced.
Painted by hand by our bodywork technician Chris who taped the sides to guide his hand and carefully applied the red paint.
We’ve had two more Jensen’s arrive this week for restorations, adding to our already growing collection! We’ll be sure to let you know how these restorations develop!
