The Mince Pie Drive

On 1st December 2023, we set off on a festive adventure across the Suffolk countryside – our first-ever Mince Pie Drive. The day dawned bright but extremely cold and icy. We decided to still venture out, albeit with a smaller convoy than first planned. The Bridge Classic Cars team wrapped up warm and headed out (special mention goes to our friends Garry Catchpole and Derek Rush for joining us).

The idea behind our Mince Pie Drive was to take classic cars to several local residential care homes to bring nostalgia and festive cheer to the residents and staff. There were mince pies, kindly provided by The Bakehouse Bakery Woodbridge, and carol singing from Molly and me (sorry about that folks!)

We went first to Highlands in Woodbridge before making our way to Bucklesham Grange Care Home, where we were greeted by the lovely Amanda-Jane Frank, who introduced us to the residents. Several came out to have a look at our cars, with Derek’s BMW proving to be a favourite here. Luke Deal from BBC Suffolk came along to chat with us and see what we were up to. You can listen to that interview here.

Next, we headed to Glebe House in Hollesley. The residents were just having their lunch, and talk about a meal with a view! The mince pies were a very welcome dessert! Lastly, whilst chasing the last hour of daylight, we popped to our neighbours at Lehmann House in Wickham Market.

We are so humbled by all the lovely residents and incredible care workers we met on our Mince Pie Drive. It was so wholesome to be able to remind them of yesteryear by bringing along a spectrum of cars. There really was something for everyone.

We can’t wait to do more events like this in future.

Local Man wins ยฃ100,000 Mercedes Cl600

Graham Cousins entered one of our classic car competitions. His ticket, number 382 was drawn and today he has come to our classic car workshop to collect his prize.

New, these CL600’s were ยฃ100,000! A dream car for many, Graham won this car from a ยฃ5 ticket!

Graham is fairly local to us, so accompanied by wife Sandra, opted to visit us for a tour of our classic car workshop when collecting his car. A lovely couple, Graham and Sandra were blown away seeing their new Mercedes CL600 in person.

Could you be our next winner?

1949 MG YT – Concours d’Elegance Preparation

This beautiful 1949 MG YT is back with us at Bridge Classic Cars. We had the pleasure of restoring this car for the MacDonald family.

The YT has been entered into the Concours d’Elegance at Blenheim Palace this year with the preparation of the vehicle entrusted to us.

There was a fuel leak which Ady has fixed by fitting a new carburettor needle valve and seat.

Along with fixing some of her internal complaints, some aesthetics have also been corrected in our specialist paint shop by expert painter Darren. “I’ve polished out some minor scratches in the paint work and worked on some localised rust marks.”

The car will also been fully detailed by Viper Auto Valet and perfected in preparation for display at Blenheim Palace.

We love seeing this car back at the workshop, we’re honoured to have the pleasure of working on such a special car. The story of this car is simply incredible!

1956 Series One Land Rover: Carburettor Restoration

Bridge Classic Cars’ Engine Specialist, Ady has begun working on our 1956 Series One Land Rover.

The car has been sat for over 30 years without being run. To get the engine fired into life once more, Ady has stripped the carburettors down and given them a good clean and refurbish. He then assembled the carbs back together, ready to fit onto the engine. Great work, Ady!

Morris Minor 1000 – In the workshop

This lovely 1963 Morris Minor 1000 will be worked on at the beginning of 2020. This cherished vehicle is in for restoration works with us at Bridge Classic Cars.

RS2000 Completed Restoration

Today we said goodbye to our gorgeous 1977 Ford Escort RS2000. This lovely Ford came in for a complete restoration here with us at Bridge Classic Cars. The team here pulled out all the stops to ensure this RS200 was finished to the highest standards.
Congratulations Paul, we hope you enjoy this fabulous car for many miles to come!

1977 MGB GT – Restoration back in for minor works

In July of this year we finished restoration works on this stunning one owner MGB GT. Since then the car has been thoroughly enjoyed by it’s owner. As such, it has come back to us at Bridge Classic Cars to fix some minor running issues.

There are minor issues with the door locks, dash lights and a slight gear lever rattle. All of which should be fairly straightforward for our classic car technicians to fix.

We love to see the cars we work on being driven and enjoyed by their owners. Its lovely to see this GT looking in such fabulous condition with a fresh lease of life.
