Transit Progress

Steve has continued his work on our Transit Tipper.

He has fitted the wiring loom under the bonnet and in the cab. He repaired the N/S/F indicator wiring by soldering and using heat shrink tubing to seal the joint.

Steve also started to fit up the dash after the new wiring loom had been fitted before removing the radio front panel, cleaning years of dirt off from behind the dials and reassembling.

The headlamp adjusters have been stripped down, cleaned, and zinc plated.

Door Seals And Sun Visors

Our 1972 Ford Transit Tipper has been with interior trimmers Brian and Lydia. They have been glueing the rubber door seals and fitting them to the door frames.

They have also been doing some remedial work on the sun visors, as they are no longer self-supporting. Lydia added some heat shrink to the attaching tubes to see if this could stiffen them up.

Lydia ended up inserting a piece of tubing into the sunvisor and attaching this firmly into place. This provided the resistance needed to hold the sun visor up when back in the vehicle. Combined with adding heat shrink to the support arms, the sun visor now stays in whatever place it is pushed to.

Windows And Interior Work

Our 1972 Ford Transit Tipper has been in the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop with classic car technician Mauro.

He has been refurbishing the window frames from the front doors and painting them black. Mauro also fitted new door cards and put the seats back into our classic Transit.

New air pipes were also fitted before Mauro put the headlights, indicators, and front bumper back onto the vehicle.

A Bit More Time In The Paintshop

Our MKII Ford Transit Tipper has spent a bit more time in the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop. It has been with classic car technician Chris who has been priming the classic transit ready for it to be painted in the very near future.

This vehicle has already undergone quite a transformation so we are looking forward to seeing it continue to make good progress through its restoration.

While our Transit Tipper was in the paintshop, technician Tom picked up the freshly rebuilt gearbox and rear axle from AST Transmission and bought them back to the workshop.

Wheels Painted

After recently being primed, the wheels of our Ford Transit MKII Tipper have been back in the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop with classic car technician Mauro.

He has been painting the wheels in preparation for them to eventually go back onto the restored vehicle when the time is right.

Mauro also painted various other components in DTM satin black.

Our Transit Tipper continues to progress through its restoration journey and this is set to carry on.

Transit Wheel Hubs

Classic car technician Alan has had the wheel hubs of our Ford Transit MKII Tipper in the Bridge Classic Cars Paintshop.

After the hubs had been primed and painted, they look much improved and will no doubt look great when they are finally put back on the vehicle as its restoration continues.

It’s Back

Our Ford Transit MKII Tipper has finished its short trip to the sandblasters.

The freshly blasted frame is looking much better already and can now move on to the next stage of its restoration.

Now that its back in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, we are looking forward to seeing how this one progresses!

Painting Transit Parts

The body of our Ford Transit MKII Tipper may be on its way to the sandblasters, but work has continued on other parts of the vehicle in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.

Parts of the seats and some of the other components have been in the paintshop being prepped, primed, and painted black ready to be re-installed to our Tipper when the time comes to rebuild it.
