Lily will be heading to Twinwood again this August in what is the highlight of her calendar year. Every year thousands flock to the site of the Glenn Miller Museum for an entire long weekend of music, dancing, shopping and fun.
The best part of the weekend is dressing up and seeing the incredible outfits put together by others. The festival sees styles from the 20s through to the 70s, featuring both true vintage and reproduction brands. This complements the spectrum of music displayed at all the venues and stages throughout the event.
There is the option to add to your collection from many stalls selling clothes, accessories and homeware. If you’ve spent all your spending money, there are educational elements too, you can take a look around the many museums on site. Learn about Glenn Miller’s connection with Twinwood, take a look at militaria from the first and second world wars, or even take a wander around Britain’s only wartime Fire Service museum.
Once you’ve done all that, it’s time to hit the dance floor for a bit of Lindy Hop or a stroll! Don’t know how? Not to worry, there are lots of dance classes over the weekend to teach you.
The Seagull Theatre in Lowestoft hosted its 1940s Festival Weekend for the second time, following its success in 2022.
From Saturday 15th July to Sunday 16th July, Claremont Road in Lowestoft was shut to traffic to make room for a craft fair full of unique gifts from local traders as the town takes you back to the 1940s.
There was live music on both days, spread throughout the area, playing music from the era as well as daily dancing sessions outside Claremont Pier.
Lily was in attendance and it was a very fun weekend. She enjoyed the stalls selling various vintage items, she learnt the American Foxtrot in the themed dance lessons and finished it off with a very sandy and windy photoshoot on the beach.
This weekend, we opened up the doors of The Atelier to another car club. The Suffolk & Essex Jaguar Enthusiasts Club arrived in full force at 10 am, showcasing a range of vehicles. There were cars spanning the eras with some classics in excellent condition as well as some modern examples. It was great for members to catch up and share anecdotes of their experiences.
Coffee and cakes were enjoyed by all, followed by an exciting tour of the Bridge Classic Cars workshop by Nick. Our guests were able to learn about our current and upcoming competition cars as well as take an in-depth look at our workshop, paint department and fabrication bay.
The morning came to a close and guests headed off with some reconvening at local restaurants en route home.
Last night, we welcomed more than 100 car enthusiasts to The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars for our Sunset Classic Car & Bike Meet.
Everyone here had a great time and enjoyed spending time with some familiar faces (and a whole load of new ones too).
The weather was ideal for a sunset car meet, with sunshine, no rain, and a glorious sunset that made the collection of beautiful vehicles look even better in the dying light.
As well as cars and bikes to admire, we also had food, drink, and some music too. The atmosphere was relaxed and everyone in attendance certainly seemed to enjoy showing off their cars as well as admiring others.
We would like to thank everyone who joined us last night and we hope to see you again at some of our upcoming events.
This morning, we welcomed members of the Jensen Owners Club into The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars.
Our workshop was the meeting point for the group before they headed off for a photo shoot in the local area. While they were with us, they enjoyed a drink and some cake, as well as taking a look at some of the current restoration projects the team are working on.
It was great to meet a group of enthusiasts who have a passion for Jensens as much as we do (and their cars looked incredible too!)
The Spalding and East Elloe Classic Car Club will be hosting a private and exclusive event at Bridge Classic Cars on Tuesday 26th September 2023.
Members of the club will have the opportunity to have a tour of our workshop as well as enjoy refreshments and spend some time with their fellow club members.

In addition to the Italian food and entertainment, there will be Mille Miglia cars in attendance and you are more than welcome to bring your own Italian car too. Steven O’Leary’s race cars which have just returned from this year’s Mille Miglia will also be on show for you to admire.

Bridge Classic Cars are thrilled to invite you to a very special event in the form of our very first Sunset Classic Car & Bike Meet.

We would love it if you can join us in celebrating the timeless beauty of classic vehicles as the sun goes down over the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.
Attendance is completely FREE but please RSVP below to let us know you will be joining us.
This past weekend, I spent some time at the 184th Hadleigh Show with my family. Although Bridge Classic Cars weren’t in attendance, I couldn’t help but be drawn to some of the vintage and classical farm machinery and vehicles.
From tractors, quadbikes, diggers, and alike, it was great to see so many vehicles that would have been heavily used in the region over the decades.
As well as the range of classical working vehicles, I was particularly drawn to the 2023 Isuzu D-Max painted in a personal favourite of Matte Black that was on display on the brand’s stand.
While the vehicles were obviously able to hold my attention for much of my time at the show, the animals were a big hit for me and the family too! The Shetland Grand National definitely seemed to be the highlight of the day for many in attendance.
More than 15 thousand people visited the Hadleigh Show this year and it was a great day out for us all.
A good friend of Bridge Classic Cars, Luke, also attended the Hadleigh Show and took some photos of his own…
We arrived at 9.30 am at the Ricknghall Car Show to be greeted by the lovely Geoff Short, on behalf of the Jaguar Car Club, who had organised the day. The day was sunny and breezy with about 200 cars in attendance of varying makes, marks, models and eras, everything from our 2009 Porsche Caymen to a classic Mini and even vintage tractors.
Molly and I had a wander about the show and were lucky enough to be able to meet some of the owners of the exhibiting vehicles. A gentleman called Mike talked us through his leaf-green Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite which he has restored from scratch over the last 20 years, another couple talked us through their Austin Seven which ran very well and had a lovely vintage suitcase strapped to the back. Molly fell in love with a beautifully cared-for Fiat, her owner Heidi keeps her pride and joy well polished!
As well as the cars on display there was also a craft fair filled with lots of homemade items including fudge!
We welcomed Freddie to the team this weekend, he fitted in like part of the furniture and was able to talk to members of the public about our Porsche and also the 1980 Saab Turbo that we took over with us.
All in all a lovely day was had by all and marked the start of the car show season for us.
The Suffolk Show is a big deal in the region and we were very happy that Bridge Classic Cars had the opportunity to attend this year.
We worked alongside our friends at East Anglian Air Ambulance and enjoyed seeing the thousands of people that made the trip to Trinity Park over the two days.
There was a huge range of activities and exhibits for all the family to enjoy. These included:
A great two days were had by myself and Freddie, we had the opportunity to meet lots of new people. The Triumph Spitfire proved to be very popular to all ages and when we popped the bumper up we dazzled hundreds with the sparkling clean engine. The feelings of nostalgia sparked in many show why this is a great and timeless classic car.
The Suffolk Show is run and managed by the Suffolk Agricultural Association. As a charity, the SAA’s core purpose is to promote the importance of food, farming and the countryside to the economy and character of Suffolk through the Suffolk Show itself and a series of education programmes aimed at young people in schools and colleges.
Video highlights of the 2022 show can be seen below:
Come and join the Bridge Classic Cars team for our first-ever movie night at The Riverside in Woodbridge.
We have teamed up with our local cinema to host a screening of the 1969 classic ‘The Italian Job’. The evening will begin at 7 pm when attendees can park their classic cars and spend some time admiring the other special vehicles that have made the trip.
The A Listers will also be open where drinks will be available to make sure you are comfortable and ready for the screening to start at 7:45 pm.
‘The Italian Job’ stars Michael Caine as the mastermind behind a plan to steal a shipment of gold from the streets of Turin in Italy. Benny Hill co-stars as the computer expert who causes a traffic jam to create the ideal situation for the heist to take place.
This is your chance to watch the original version of an iconic film, that has been remade several times, surrounded by classic cars and other like-minded enthusiasts.
If you’re a classic Mini fan, ‘The Italian Job’ will certainly give you plenty of opportunity to admire some great examples on the big screen.
Tickets are available on The Riverside website.

On Sunday, Molly and Lily visited the Ipswich to Felixstowe rally.
Starting at Christchurch Park in Ipswich before travelling to Felixstowe Seafront, the rally was organised by the Ipswich Transport Museum and has been an annual event for many years (with the exception of a COVID-led hiatus), and it was extremely well attended.
While at the event, Molly and Lily spoke to a number of attendees about their vehicles and they had a fantastic time. The vehicle owners they spoke to included:
A particular highlight of the day for Molly and Lily was the tour of a 1939 Bristol Low Bridge Bus that was partly built at Eastern Coachworks in Lowestoft. One of the bus’s owners, Martin, was kind enough to give them a tour and told the story of how a group of bus drivers had bought and restored the bus so that future generations get to enjoy and admire it too.
The bus used to have a retractable roof but this has since been replaced with a solid roof.
Bridge Classic Cars Director, Gordon also attended the rally and he too had a great day spending time with other classic car enthusiasts and admiring the wide range of classic vehicles that made the drive from Ipswich to Felixstowe.
Highlights of Drive It Day 2023 can be seen here.
Bridge Classic Cars are pleased to be hosting a Drive It Day on Sunday 21st April 2024.
National Drive It Day was created by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs in 2005. It celebrates the 65 cars that attempted to drive 1000 miles from London to Edinburgh and back again in 1900 to prove the viability of the motor car.
This epic journey began on 23rd April 1900 and ended on 12th May 1900 when 35 of the original 65 cars that began the journey successfully arrived back in London.
National Drive It Day has become even more than a celebration of this mammoth undertaking. It is now an event where classic and historic vehicle enthusiasts can get together to not only share memories and experiences of their own classic vehicles but also raise money for the NSPCC too.
More information on the origins of the event and how you can get your rally plates can be seen here.
Enjoy your drive in the morning and join us at our Pettistree workshop between 11am and 2pm. There will be Mediterranean food from Prestige Catering and the bar will be open for drinks.
Please register to let us know you are attending the event. To take part you must purchases a rally plate. Commemorative rally plates can be purchased from the official Drive It Day website with the money raised from the purchase providing vital funding for Childline.
For more information, please contact Lily via events@bridgeclassiccars.co.uk
On Sunday, 16th April we welcomed the Rolls-Royce & Bentley Enthusiasts to Bridge Classic Cars.
Having such a fantastic collection of Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars parked outside the workshop was a great sight to see on a Sunday morning. The event was extremely well attended with around 50 members of the club visiting us and enjoying refreshments from The Atelier bar, as well as taking a look behind the scenes with a tour of our state-of-the-art workshop.
At Bridge Classic Cars, we are in the very privileged position of restoring and working on some of the most recognisable and sought-after classic cars in the world. With a range of classic vehicles coming into the workshop on a regular basis, it can be easy to take for granted just how beautiful these machines are.
Over the years, we have seen several Rolls Royce and Bentley motor cars pass through the Bridge Classic Cars workshop. Some have been with us for an extended period, while others have come and gone in seemingly no time at all. Despite the differences in the amount of time we spend with these vehicles, there is one common occurrence – the buzz and excitement of seeing a truly special British classic up close.
Molly and Freddie were on hand to welcome club members to The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars. They were available to make drinks, talk about all of the current projects we have ongoing, and, of course, admire the stunning array of Rolls-Royce and Bentleys that were parked just a few metres away.
The club visit lasted a few hours and, both Molly and Freddie had a great time getting to know as many members as possible. Freddie particularly enjoyed the round of applause he was given at the end of his tour of the workshop!
After leaving us, it was on to a local pub for some lunch and more car chat – a perfect way to spend a Sunday.
Everyone here at Bridge Classic Cars would like to extend our thanks to all who attended this event. We very much enjoyed hosting the club meet and we hope to see all of you (and more) again very soon.
Join Bridge Classic Cars In Celebrating National Drive It Day
As well as raising funds for the NSPCC, National Drive It Day celebrates the epic journey undertaken by 65 cars in 1900. These driving pioneers attempted to drive 1000 miles from London to Edinburgh and back again with the goal of proving the viability of the motor car.
Bridge Classic Cars are joining the celebration by hosting Drive It Day 2023. Beginning at The Hangar, in the impressive grounds of Bentwaters Air Base, there will be time to admire the wide range of vehicles in attendance. After a hot drink, we will travel, In convoy, to our main workshop in Pettistree. The route will cover approximately 7 miles.
Once at the workshop, you will be able to take a closer look at some of our current restoration projects as well as enjoying live music from local band, The Buskateers, food from Otis Breading and Suffolk Fried Chicken, and our fully licensed bar will be open too.
Drive It Day, hosted by Bridge Classic Cars, gives you the opportunity to get behind the wheel of your special vehicle, take in the sights of the picturesque Suffolk countryside, and raise vital funds for a very important charity.
National Drive It Day is on Sunday, 23rd April. We will be meeting at The Hangar, Bentwaters Parks at 11 am with the drive to the workshop beginning at noon. You can then enjoy all the food and entertainment you like until things come to an end at 3 pm.
Commemorative rally plates can be purchased to help raise funds to support the NSPCC’s Childline service. With 90% of the charity’s income coming from donations and each call costing £4 to answer, the charity and the children and young people it helps, need our help now more than ever.
More information can be found on the events section of the Bridge Classic Cars website.
On Sunday 9th April and Monday 10th April I dressed up in my 1940s finery and visited the Memories of the 1940s event at the Crich Tramway Museum in Derbyshire. Stepping back to 1940s Britain on the Homefront, with live entertainment from the 1940s.
I arrived around lunch time to be greeted by lots of friendly faces and warm welcomes, I set up my picnic and enjoyed music from Johnny Victory. Everyone was singing along to nostalgic songs from a bygone era, interjecting with call backs and familiar choruses.
There were some fantastic cars and military vehicles on display as well as a Spitfire! The collection of Trams really stole the show however with many different kinds ferrying guests up and down the lines all day. There were open top and double decker varieties from up and down the country, from London, Blackpool, Sheffield and more from a variety of time periods. Inside one of the tram sheds you could learn all about the history and origins of the trams and how the technology and engineering paved the way for many other transporting advancements.
There were lots of re-enactors mingling including service men and women, spivs and even Winston Churchill! Many of the guests were dressed in their 1940s finery, both civilian and military garbs, there was also the option of purchasing vintage clothing on many of the stalls.
The interactive displays were both educational and entertaining with displays of pharmaceutical stores, WI, a printing press and an operation sweet shop! My personal favourite was of course the pub, with a wide range of drinks. There were people playing cards, impromptu singing and many frivolities.
For more information head to the Crich Tramway Museum Website
This morning we welcomed the Mercedes-Benz club to The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars.
It was great to see so many members of the club enjoy a coffee with us before going on a guided tour of the Bridge Classic Cars workshop. Everyone here had a fantastic time, the atmosphere was extremely positive, and we hope to see you all again very soon.
Some of the team here at Bridge Classic Cars recently had the opportunity to hear the story of Rogue Trader, Nick Leeson from the man himself.
For those who don’t know, Nick Leeson is a former trader who ended up in prison after he single-handedly bankrupted Barings Bank in 1995. Although he was ultimately convicted of fraud, Nick actually started his trading career as something of a future star. After making massive profits for Barings, Nick was moved to Singapore where he made his first unauthorised trades.
Nick’s role should have been cash-neutral for his employer, meaning that any profits and losses belonged to the client’s portfolios that he was managing. Barings Bank would get a commission for any successes but they wouldn’t lose any money in the trades. However, what was actually happening is that Nick was using the bank’s money to try and recoup trading losses.
Nick used the extremely risky strategy of betting double the amount of money lost to try and get the losses back while making a profit too. This ended up with Barings Bank losing a total of £827 million in 1995. This huge amount of money was double the bank’s trading capital and proved to be the beginning of the end for the 230-year-old bank.
While in prison, Nick wrote a book called Rogue Trader which subsequently was adapted into a film starring Ewan McGregor and Anna Friel in 1999.
Obviously, the actions of Nick Leeson impacted a huge number of people and there is still a strong element of controversy and emotion that surrounds him. That being said, hearing his story and his explanation of what was going on at the time was certainly very interesting and something that the team will remember.
We recently welcomed the Porsche Club GB to The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars. Having more than 30 Porsches parked up outside while members of the club enjoyed a coffee and a chat before having a personal tour of the workshop was something that everyone here enjoyed just as much as our guests.
Thank you to all of the members of the Porsche Owners Club that attended, it was a fantastic morning spent with you and we hope you come back and see us again very soon.
Several car clubs are coming to visit The Atelier like the Porsche Owners Club did, and we are equally as excited to welcome all of them to Bridge Classic Cars.
If you are interested in holding a club meeting in The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars, please contact lily on events@bridgeclassiccars.co.uk or check out our Events page for an up-to-date list of what’s happening.
On Saturday 25th March, we hosted an evening with Ed Stafford in The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars.
The night saw more than 100 people join us to hear Ed talk about his adventures, his life, and his current and future projects. It was such a great experience to listen to the exciting and inspiring stories from the man himself and we are extremely grateful to Ed for being so open and honest with us and the audience.
From hearing about becoming the first person to ever walk the length of the Amazon River and being arrested and threatened with death along the way, to living on an uninhabited Pacific island in complete isolation, to family life with his wife and children, Ed shared so much that everyone in attendance couldn’t help but feel even more connected to him than they did to begin with.
Also on the night, we found the winner of Ed’s 2015 Land Rover Defender 110. The lucky winner was randomly selected during our live draw that Ed joined in with. The Defender was very popular and sold out while he was on stage.
Everyone here at Bridge Classic Cars had a fantastic evening and we loved welcoming so many faces, both new and old, into The Atelier. As the event was designed to be an intimate evening, the audience could speak to Ed and take photos with him. Many books were signed and even more selfies were taken!
A big thank you goes out to everyone who attended An Evening With Ed Stafford and thanks to Ed for being such an amazing guest.
We will be hosting more Evening With… events throughout the year including our Evening With Martin Donnelly, Formula 1 legend on Saturday, 20th May 2023 and we are very excited to welcome more of you to Bridge Classic Cars very soon.
Yesterday, we welcomed the Essex Austin Seven Club into The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars.
It was great to see the members of the club spending time with us enjoying coffee and snacks before getting to have a look behind-the-scenes of the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, as they had a tour of our facilities.
We always enjoy hosting car clubs. With several others already booked in, we are looking forward to seeing more of you in the very near future.
Highlights of this event can be seen here.
The Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club will be hosting a private and exclusive event at Bridge Classic Cars on Sunday 2nd July 2023.
Members of the club will have the opportunity to have a tour of our workshop as well as enjoy refreshments and spend some time with like-minded fellow Jaguar enthusiasts.
This event is for members only!
More information can be found here.
We hosted our second Coffee & Classics event this morning from The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars.
It was great to welcome a group of fellow classic car enthusiasts to enjoy a coffee with us as well as have a behind-the-scenes tour of the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.
Our Coffee & Classics mornings happen on the second Tuesday of every month. With this and other exciting events coming up over the next few months, we hope to see even more of you very soon.
Thank you to everyone who came to see us this morning and we look forward to seeing you all again in the near future.
Though the weather today may be bleak and in some places snowy, the early flowers popping up in hedgerows and on grassy banks promise that spring is just around the corner. Pops of colour and low yellowy sun symbolise the beginning of another year filled with adventure.
For many of you, the winter months signal a time when the precious motors are tucked up warm in a garage or storage facility however, those with a year-round driver have been able to enjoy journeys out on crisp, frosty(but not icy) mornings. Some even ventured out to welcome in the New Year with Bridge Classic Cars back at the beginning of January and enjoyed a bright day driving followed by a cosy lunch in a local pub.
Now, as the nights draw out, the car community awakes en masse from its slumber. Tarpaulins and carcoons are pulled back, chrome is polished to perfection and paintwork buffed lovingly to its pre-hibernation glory. The event season begins.
For Bridge Classic Cars this year, the calendar is buoyant with events to suit every car lover, we want to welcome you to monthly live draws with music and fun as well as more car meets and coffee mornings for a more intimate vibe. We have special guests sharing their stories and lives with us, on stage at The Atelier. First, we welcome Ed Stafford, shortly followed by Martin Donnelly plus many more special guests. Soon to be revealed! We have days out in the local area allowing us to celebrate Suffolk and classic cars all in one go. Rallies, charity events and car shows scattered through spring and summer meaning there is fun, entertainment and a warm welcome for all the family.
Molly and I headed to Kensington Olympia this weekend for The London Classic Car Show for a fun-filled day of classic cars from up and down the country.
On arrival, we were greeted by the organisers who encouraged us to walk around and view all the exhibitions brought together by this event. One of the main attractions was an iconic display of Minis designed for members of the Beatles. A highly decorated one belonged to George Harrison and one had even been converted for Ringo Starr to be able to put his drums in the back!
The Aston Martin Club, Ferrari Owners Club and The Triumph TR Register Car Club amongst many others were there representing their clubs. And there was a great display of many cars, some over 100 years old.
Earlier in the weekend there had been an auction take place, hosted by Historics Auctioneers. A great many lots were available with some truly remarkable cars on offer.
Molly was lucky enough to be invited onto the Fighting Torque stage at 3 pm to talk about her thoughts on Barn Finds alongside Tobias Ballard, Nick Wells, and Vicki Butler-Henderson. She spoke to the audience about our 1905 Riley 9HP and our love for uncovering hidden treasures in unexpected places.
After finishing on stage, Molly and I bumped into Tobias as he headed back to his own stand, The Model A Revival Company. A few years ago he recreated his very own version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang using car components from vehicles dating before the 1930s, Tobias gave us a quick run-through about where all of the parts were sourced from. There was even an incredible snake horn down one side! It is a very special vehicle and provokes feelings of nostalgia.
It was great to see so many special cars in one place, surrounded by the people that are the most passionate. We are looking forward to next year.
Last night, we hosted our very 70s live draw from The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars.
It was a great night with musical entertainment from the amazingly talented MJ Soul, delicious food from Wagu Burgers and Street Food, as well as the live draws of our 2 1970s classic cars – our 1973 Audi 100 Coupe S and our 1972 Rover P6 4500S.
The lucky winners were Daniel Ewen, who is now the owner of our Audi, and Stephen Price, who is the new keeper of our one-of-a-kind Beastie.
Everyone on the Bridge Classic Cars team had a lot of fun and would like to thank everyone who attended or watched along at home. There will be more live events like this happening regularly and we hope to see more of you very soon.
We hosted our first coffee and classics in The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars this morning.
Those who attended enjoyed a coffee, some cake, a tour of the workshop, and lots of conversation about all things classic cars.
Our coffee & classics will be a regular occurrence that takes place on the second Tuesday of every month. If you would like to come along to our next coffee and classics, all the information you need can be found here.
Highlights of our day at The Classic Car Show can be seen here.
