Pre Delivery Inspection

Our 1973 Reliant Scimitar was won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions a little while ago now. However, the lucky winner has been out of the country so we have been looking after the car on his behalf.

Now that delivery is fast approaching, classic car technician Jonn has been giving the car its pre-delivery inspection to make sure everything is as it should be.

Jonn was pleased with our Scimitar so it is now ready to go to its new home.

Inspecting A Competition Car

Our 1986 Golf GTI Cabriolet has been in the care of classic car technician Jonn, as he has been inspecting and assessing the car before a new owner will be found through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions very soon.

Jonn cleaned and inspected the rear brakes before making some adjustments and refitting the drum. While working on our Golf, Jonn noticed that there was some interesting wiring in the car and some faulty relays too. This was likely put in when the aftermarket headlights were fitted by a previous owner but is now sorted thanks to Jonn.

The electric windows have not been working correctly since our Golf arrived so Jonn investigated this. He found that the switches were faulty so resolved this to make sure the windows were working as they should.

A new timing belt and tensioner were also fitted in preparation for our 1986 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet to be won.

No More Cowboys

Since our 1977 Lambretta Jet 150 came into the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, there has been a lot of discussion about whether the vinyl cowboy stickers should be left on or removed before it goes live on Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

In the end, it was decided to remove them during the preparation process of the classic scooter. After the stickers were removed, classic car technician Mauro completed some welding repairs and some filler work before priming the side covers ready for paint.

Once the freshly painted panels go back on our classic scooter, it will be one step closer to going live on the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website.

Almost Ready

As the live draw for our 1980 MGB GT is almost here, classic car technician Jonn has been completing a few more jobs to make sure it is ready to go to its new owner very soon.

The front timing cover and seal were rubbed down and painted before being re-fitted. Jonn also painted the oil sump pan. He then moved on to sorting out the faulty hazard lights and restoring the wiring back to its original specifications.

He used the wiring diagram to make sure everything was correct. After cutting out the non-original wiring, the new wiring and inline fuse were fitted back to the original setup.

A new alternator belt was fitted too.

With this work coming to an end, it won’t be much longer until our eye-catching 1980 MGB GT is parked up with its lucky new owner.

Getting Competition Ready

You won’t have to wait too much longer until you will have the chance to win our 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

Classic car technician Brian has been doing lots of work on the interior of what was once said to be “the most beautiful car ever made”. He has fitted a new cover to the cubby box lid as well as doing an impressive job of fitting the headliner too.

Brian went on to stick the dodo mat sound-deadening panels to the floor, transmission tunnel, and under the rear seat. The chrome channels of the rear seat were cleaned and rubber strips were made and fitted to these.

While Brian was working inside our classic E-Type, John was fitting the boot stay.

Work continues on our 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 and we are looking forward to keeping you updated on its restoration progress.

The oil filter housing was taken out, painted, and then refitted. Jonn also fitted a new nearside rear wheel cylinder before removing the rocker cover so a new gasket could be fitted. Once the rocker gasket cover was cleaned, the new gasket was fitted.

Servicing Our Competition MGB

Classic car technician Jonn has been conducting a service on our 1980 MGB GT in preparation for it to be won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

Behind The Scenes With East Anglian Air Ambulance

The Bridge Classic Cars team recently spent some time at Bentwaters filming with some of the incredible crew of East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The shoot was for our latest classic car that has just launched on Bridge Classic Cars Competitions. This is a very special competition though as all profits will be donated to this life-saving charity.

We were extremely lucky to have the helicopter join us for the shoot, as well as getting to meet some of the skilled lifesavers that have saved thousands of lives in some extraordinarily bad situations. Watching the air ambulance fly overhead and land just a few feet away from our 1973 Triumph Spitfire and from where we were standing was an experience none of the team here will forget in a hurry.

As important as the shoot was to make sure we highlighted just how important the charity’s work is, while also demonstrating the quality of our Spitfire, it was a fun day out with a lot of laughing, and adults acting like children being so close to a helicopter!

East Anglian Air Ambulance is a charity that provides life-saving services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Since the charity first launched in 2000, they have attended the scene of more than 30,000 accidents and given critical care to thousands of casualties in need.

Dash Repairs

Classic car technician Brian has been working on the latest car available to win through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions, our 1963 Reliant Scimitar GTE. Brian made and replaced the dash top cover, ensuring that this classic car’s interior looks as good as possible for the lucky winner who is soon-to-be-found.

Brian started by making a paper pattern for the cover before using this to cut the cover out of vinyl.

The dash top was sanded smooth in preparation for glueing and was masked up. The back edge of the new cover was glued in place first followed by the top edge. Brian then folded the vinyl around the front edge and trimmed the excess material off.

Now that the new dash top cover is fitted, our Reliant Scimitar is ready to be won on Tuesday, 6th June.
