Rover Hood Work Continues

As you can see, Brian and Lydia have been working together to fit the rear edge of the inner liner to the rear bar of the frame. The zip section to the rear bar, rear window have now been fitted and the rubber seal to the bottom of window. The rubber seal to rear edge of the car has now been bolted in.

The cover was too tight so we have adjusted the front edge of the hood cover, glued in the flap to the frame and fitted metal bars into the rear side edges of hood cover. The cover along the rear bar of the frame has been adjusted and we’ll leave the cover on overnight to stretch.

Finishing Touches – Finishing The Seat Pockets and Rear Seat Bases on the 1958 Jensen 541R

The trim shop at the Bridge Classic Cars HQ have been working on more parts of the 1958 Jensen 541R.

The team have been working on finishing up the amazing fluted rear seat bases. Each line of the fluting has been carefully stitched by hand by Lydia closely following the original as a reference. The covers are now finished and stretched around the bases.

After that, Lydia could work on getting the handmade seat pockets attached onto the back of the front seats before trimming the hoop base and fitted it to the underside of the seat back.

Repaired – Fixing the Stitching on the 1970 Bristol 411 Steering Wheel

The trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on the steering wheel of the 1970 Bristol 411 which is in our workshops.

The stitching on the backside of the steering wheel had come apart and begun to separate. So, the team have removed the steering wheel in order to pull the material back together and make it look as good as new for its owner.

Remake – Replacing the Broken Ceiling Pad on the 1958 Jensen 541R

The Bridge Classic Cars interior trim team have been back working on the 1958 Jensen 541R.

The team have been repairing the top rail for the ceiling pad inside the classic GT car. The team have remade the wooden piece by hand using traditional methods to make a total replica of the original piece for the car.

To The Core – Stripping Back More Interior Pieces on the 1958 Jensen 541R

The trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars has been working on stripping back more interior pieces from the 1958 Jensen 541R.

Lydia, one of our trimmers, has carefully been taking apart the original pieces all the way back to their core components in order to inspect and assess the structure underneath. Each of the pieces was taken off and visually checked over individually.

Stripped – Tearing Down the Seats of the 1958 Jensen 541R

The trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars have begun work on stripping back the rear seats of the 1958 Jensen 541R in with our team for paint and trim work.

Lydia, one of our trimmers, has carefully unpicked the covers to expose the foam core underneath. All of these pieces are being used for reference as part of the work, so are carefully organised and stored for the time being.

Once the covers had been taken off, Lydia could then begin piecing together and shaping out the new foam which will make up the core of the new rear seat of the 541R.

The Gentle Touch – Having the Grille of the 2022 Bridge C-Type Replica Chromed

The front grille of our C-Type Replica is so iconic. It immediately screams classic road and race cars because of its shape and form. It’s almost like a piece of sculpture on its own.

This will be sent off to a local specialist to be finished in dazzling chrome, befitting the care and passion being put into this very special car. The flowing nature of this particular piece of the car is just beautiful to look at and hold.

We’ve had this component specially made for us for the project using the original, traditional methods. And it’s the perfect jewel in the crown of C-Type Replica.

Perfect Fit – Shaping and Trimming the Seats for Our 2022 Bridge C-Type Replica

The Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim shop has been working on a new set of seats for our incredible 2022 Bridge C-Type Replica.

Lydia and Brian, our in-house trim experts, have worked their magic on creating these replica buckets to exact specifications and shape for an early racing bucket seat. Finished in bright, vivid red, these seats will form the centrepiece of the cabin of the C-Type Replica and really show off just how good our trim shop really is.

There’s going to be a lot more on the C-Type Replica very soon here at Bridge Classic Cars.

Bedded Down – Carpets into the 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on fitting down the handmade carpet sets into the 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona.

The trim shop has spent a lot of time making sure that each individual piece of the interior fits perfectly and aligns just right with the pieces that join into it. For this, our trim team have test fit all of the pieces countless time making revisions and changes to ensure the whole interior works in its entirety.

With everything working together, the team began the process of getting the final parts of the carpet set and trim panels into place inside the classic Daytona replica.

Recreating the Past – Removing and Inspecting the Original Seat from the 1905 Riley 9HP

The Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim shop has begun the process of carefully taking apart the original interior of the 1905 Riley 9HP in order to recreate and understand the car better.

The original leather was brittle and stiff, so Brian carefully began to remove the trim pieces in order to best remove it from the car as complete as possible to use as a reference when it comes to making the new piece. Each item that has come off the car has been meticulously catalogued and stored for the restoration project even the original springs and hessian backing of the seat and all the hardware.

Stripped Back – Removing the Wood Panels on the 1968 MGC Roadster

The 1968 MGC Roadster is now in the hands of the Bridge Classic Cars trim team who have been working on refinishing the wooden panelling on the interior of the MGC.

Brian carefully removed the veneer on the dashboard and centre console piece by piece to strip the panels back to their most basic. He also removed the radio blanking plate as well as several gauges in order to get access and check over.

Top End – Retrimming the Window and Sunroof Pieces from the 1987 Daimler Double Six

Several pieces from the interior of the 1987 Daimler Double Six have been transferred to the in-house trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars.

The trim team have been carefully deconstructing and stripping back the various pieces of trim and panels from the roof of the classic Daimler. The sunroof of the car was removed in order to be inspected and assessed before it will be retrimmed by the team.

Next, the headliner of the car was stripped back and the foam sanded to be readied for the new headliner for the car fitted very soon.

Finally, the trim team carefully took apart the rear window trim and after cleaning up the surface retrimmed it in brand new foam strips.

Top Board – Making the Rear Quarter Panel Top Boards for the 1955 Jensen 541

The top boards for the rear quarter panels on the interior of the 1955 Jensen 541 have been made by hand in our in-house trim shop at the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.

Brian has made each individual piece by hand using original templates for the interior of the Jensen 541s. After they have been hand finished they will be retrimmed in the matching material to the rest of the car.

All-New – Recovering the 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona Dash in Alcantara

The dash for the 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona is continuing its journey with Bridge Classic Cars at our in-house trim shop.

The team have been working on transferring the pattern made on the black vinyl to the black Alcantara the owner has chosen. The new covering has been hand cut and stitched by Lydia to create a tight, elegant fit to the synthetic suede.

With these pieces now in their finishing stages, we’re excited to show you the next stage of the 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona.

Quick Fix – Repairs to the Seats on the 1958 Morris Minor 1000

The trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars have worked their magic on the 1958 Morris Minor 1000 that is in with us.

The team noted some small tears and holes in a few of the seats so created small patch pieces to lay over them and fix them into place. Although they’re not exactly the same colour, they’re the closest piece to the original that we have in stock for smaller pieces to be used as repairs and will stop the area around the damage from deteriorating any further.

Remove and Inspect – Removing Interior Pieces from the 1980 Saab 99 Turbo

The Bridge Classic Cars trim shop have been working on stripping parts of the interior on the 1980 Saab 99 Turbo for restoration.

Along with the paint and body team assessing the exterior of the car to come up with a plan for the body and panels, our trim shop have been removing and assessing pieces from the interior of the classic Saab. Each piece is individually inspected for condition and any marks or tears. The main piece which needed attention of the interior, which is in relatively good condition, is the headliner.

The team pulled the headliner from the car which will be taken up to the trim shop, stripped and recovered.

From Scratch – Refurbishing the Soft Top on the 1978 MGB GT

The sunroof for the 1978 MGB GT is on the workbench of the trim shop here at the Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ and it needs more work than first thought.

Lydia had been working on entirely refurbishing the soft top for the Blaze Orange MGB. As she began to disassemble the piece, the metal railings literally started to crumble in her hands. So, with that, she worked on getting everything broken down into its components and went to our fabrication department to make new rails for the soft top.

Once these had been made and given back to Lydia, she could start to put the refurbished soft top back together and safely put into storage for when our body team have finished the metal repairs on the sports car.

Final Parts – Assessing Parts on the 1987 Mercedes 500SL

The in-house restoration technicians at Bridge Classic Cars have been working through the final parts and pieces for the 1987 Mercedes 500SL restoration which is in our Suffolk HQ workshop.

Tom, one of our in-house restoration technicians, has been going through parts for the 1987 Mercedes R107 500SL to check their condition and to make sure anything missing can be sourced ahead of time.

Each piece has been carefully photographed and noted for the car.

Building Update – New Trim Shop

The Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim shop has moved!

The in-house trim shop at our Suffolk HQ has moved to the first floor of our restoration workshop. This is to give Brian and Lydia, our incredible in-house trim experts, better access to the workshop and a more open-plan workspace.

The new trim shop location is also because the previous location of the trim department is now the new paint preparation area for our in-house paint and body department.

Begin Again – Remaking the Seats for the 1955 Jensen 541

A while ago, we said goodbye to the beautiful Jensen 541. It was sold as a project to its very lucky new owner who plans on restoring the car.

Well, now the interior is back in the Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim shop. Brian is making a brand new rear seat for the car while
Lydia is busy stripping down the original bucket seats to assess the fibreglass mouldings for any cracks or damage.

Either way, it’s always nice to see a car (or parts) find their way back into our workshop here in Suffolk.

One More Step – Number Plate Lights on the Alfa Romeo Spyder

Mauro, one of the in-house restoration technicians here at Bridge Classic Cars, has been working on the Alfa Romeo Spyder we have in our workshop.

As part of the list of work needed, Mauro began looking into the rear number plate lights. Apart from being severely discoloured, the didn’t really work. So, a set of replacements were ordered.

Now that these have arrived into stock with us here at Bridge Classic Cars, Mauro can begin fitting them to the car. These were exact replacements so it was simply a case of removing the old ones and fitting the new ones in their places then plugging them in.

With these lights in, Mauro began to test them and all the other lighting systems and everything worked perfectly on this stunning classic Italian convertible.

Good as New – 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk1 Gauges Back from Refurb

The gauges for the 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk1 currently undergoing restoration at Bridge Classic Cars have returned from being refurbished.

We sent the dials and units off to a specialist refurbisher and the results look absolutely incredible. Along with being restored, they have all been perfectly calibrated to a very small tolerance. It’s beautiful to see the craft and skill that our trusted specialist partners put into pieces.

The gauges will eventually go into the dashboard of the classic Aston Martin which is being finished to the same very high, very process standard.

All the Details – Continuing to Reassemble the 1977 MGB Roadster

Mauro, one of our restoration technicians here at Bridge Classic Cars, has been hard at work reassembling the 1977 MGB Roadster we have in for restoration in preparation for the next phase of the project.

Mauro has been fitting all of the trims and windows to the car since the paintwork is now fully cured and hardened. This really makes the little sportscar come alive!

As with this being new paint, our team take their time and carefully manoeuvre the trims into place as to not cause any damage to the beautiful dark blue roadster. Some of the pieces have been refurbished but those that couldn’t be have been replaced with the highest quality pieces we have sourced.

The windows were thoroughly cleaned and all mechanisms liberally greased to ensure they work flawlessly when needed and all the trim pieces have new clips and hardware to create a good, tight fit to the body of the car.

Mauro is systematically working through each part of the car to complete each section before moving on to the next.

Also, the team fitted the windscreen to the car as a finishing touch!

From Scratch – Trimming the Armrests on the 1987 Mercedes 500SL

The in-house Trim Shop at Bridge Classic Cars can create just about anything. This time, our lead trimmer Brian has been trimming the armrests for the 1987 Mercedes R107 500SL.

Beginning with the original piece, Brian hand-made a template for the new pieces which would find their way onto the armrest of the handsome R107.

Carefully careful traced his patterns onto the same stunning red leather that the rest of the car has been trimmed in. Then, with millimetre precision, Brian cut out the templates ready for when they will be stitched and finished by hand.

All Gone Through – Cataloguing Parts Off the 1987 Mercedes 500SL

Bridge Classic Cars in-house restoration team have been busy assessing and cataloguing the next round of parts from the 1987 Mercedes 500SL restoration project.

Tamas, has been going through each individual part to check its part number and operation/condition for when the car comes back in for final assembly. This is a crucial part of any restoration project so that replacements can be sourced or pieces can be sent off for refurbishment.

Remade Touches – Making New Mats for Alfa Romeo Spyder

The Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim shop have turned their craft and skill onto the Alfa Romeo Spyder with this perfectly tailored set of mats made for the driver and passenger footwell on the classic Italian convertible.

Brian made a very tight-fitting template for the car which includes working around the floor-mounted pedals sets. This was then transferred onto a high-quality carpet swatch we have for the car and cut to fit the template.

After, this was then bound around any exposed edges to stop them from fraying over time. These mats look absolutely phenomenal inside the car and are a handsome addition to such a stunning 1970s icon.

Coming Back Together – Reassembly on the 1977 MGB Roadster

The 1977 MGB Roadster currently in with Bridge Classic Cars has finished its time in our in-house paint shop and has now been moved into our restoration workshop to begin reassembly.

After previously assessing the condition of the trims when the car first came into us, they were bagged and catalogued for this stage of the car’s aesthetic restoration. Some of the trims and parts weren’t able to be refurbished or reused so high-quality replacements from trusted suppliers were sourced to make sure the Roadster looks and works perfectly. That includes cleaning and refinishing the fuel tank to match the standard of the rest of the car.

Our in-house restoration technician Mauro has been working alongside our other technician Paul to get the trims and pieces back onto the MGB before it goes into our in-house trim shop for its interior. Mauro and Paul will work methodically through the car to ensure every component and fitting is secure and neatly back onto the car.

New Set – New Carpet Mats in the 1973 MGB GT V8

The Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim shop have worked their magic on the front carpets on the 1973 MGB GT V8.

The carpets in the car were beginning to show some wear and tear, so our in-house trim team got to work on remaking them. Brian, our lead trimmer, used the originals from the car as templates and also recreate a heel mat for the inside of the driver’s footwell.

Along with that, Brian replaced the sound-deadening in the footwell whilst the carpets were removed.
