Preparations – Removing the Centre Console and Dashboard from the 1987 Daimler Double Six

The trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars have been carefully removing the veneered pieces from the interior of the 1987 Daimler Double Six.

Brian, one of our trimmers, has been removing the centre console pieces along with the dashboard to prepare them for being reveneered. For this, he had to remove all fittings and trim pieces from each panel in order to safely remove them from the car.

Once out, he could get then tear them down further in order to expose the edges of the veneer to be carefully removed and prepared.

Perfect Fit – Shaping and Trimming the Seats for Our 2022 Bridge C-Type Replica

The Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim shop has been working on a new set of seats for our incredible 2022 Bridge C-Type Replica.

Lydia and Brian, our in-house trim experts, have worked their magic on creating these replica buckets to exact specifications and shape for an early racing bucket seat. Finished in bright, vivid red, these seats will form the centrepiece of the cabin of the C-Type Replica and really show off just how good our trim shop really is.

There’s going to be a lot more on the C-Type Replica very soon here at Bridge Classic Cars.

Starting Anew – New Seat Base Foams for the 1958 Jensen 541R

The trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars have worked their skill and craft in making the brand new seats foams for the 1958 Jensen 541R. The team discovered what was left of the original cushion material after the covers were removed and could then begin to build them out of new, more modern materials.

Lydia, one of our amazing trimmers, carefully put together the combinations of foams in different thicknesses and densities to give the right amount of support once the seat base is all back together.

Once the pieces had been put together, Lydia could begin to hand shape the foams to their original contours to slip under the new covers which will be made by our in-house team.

Matched – Finishing the Other Squab Seat on the 1954 Bristol 405

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have completed the 2nd squab seat for the 1954 Bristol 405 which is in for restoration with us at our Suffolk HQ.

The team have made an exact copy of the other squab seat which was completed earlier. Both of these pieces have been carefully wrapped up and stored ready for the cars reassmebly.

Strip Down – Tearing Down the Seats and Panels of the 1958 Jensen 541R

The trim team have begun the interior side of restoring the 1958 Jensen 541R. The first stage is to strip back the fibreglass bucket seats and rear panels.

The team carefully unpick all of our restoration pieces, catalogue each piece and store it for templating later. With the team having done over a dozen Jensen 541 interiors by this point, they have perfected the art of disassembly on them.

The team begin by separating the base from the back and then remove everything down to its fixings, covers and foams in order to inspect and assess any of them.

The team also stripped down the handmade rear quarter panels to their coverings, backboards and the hand shape wooden framework.

Out Back – New Boot Trim for the 1987 Daimler Double Six

The Bridge Classic Cars trim shop have turned their attention to the rear of the 1987 Daimler Double Six which is in our workshop for reassembly as part of its restoration.

The team have made a new boot top trim piece for the classic Daimler. Using the original as a template, the team have carefully recreated the original piece to be a perfect fit under the decklid. Along with that, the team have also made new smaller panels out of mil board for the boot of the car.

In & Out – Fitting the Sound Deadening and Cabin Vents to the 1970 Bristol 411

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on the interior of the 1970 Bristol 411 which is in for its left-hand drive conversion.

The team have fit new original-style sound deadening into the floors and tunnel of the classic Bristol as part of the restoration side of the project. Also while fitting the sound deadening to the car, the team refurbished and refit the cabin vents which sit in the footwell kick panels.

Repaired – Reworking the Seat Base on the 1955 Triumph TR2

The seat base of the 1955 Triumph TR2 has been taken out of the classic sports car and taken upstairs to the Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim shop to be worked on.

Brian, one of our trimmers, has had the seat base on the bench to begin its repairs.

The first step was to unpicking the stitching on the seat base to remove it from the metal sprung base. Then, the cover could be transferred onto a new piece of calico to create a backing for the repairs to bind to. Along with this, the team recorded the piping to give it back its original shape for the beautiful dark red leather. Whilst the cover was off the metal base, Brian could repair some of the springs which over time had become frail and broken.

Next, the trim team carefully trimmed out the base pieces from the calico before glueing them down and then refit them together with a new foam centre. Finally, the team could stretch the repaired cover over the base and fixed in place with brand-new hog clips before being installed back into the car.

Bound – Binding the Carpet Edges of the 1970 Bristol 411

The new carpet set for the 1968 Morris Minor Van has been taken up from the workshop to the trim shop in order for the team to finish off the pieces for the car.

Lydia, has taken the individual pieces which were made Brian to create the neat hand-bound edges which run all the way rough each carpet panel that make up the entire set. Now with these finished, they can go back down into the workshop to be installed into the car.

Full Set – Making the New Carpet Set for the 1970 Bristol 411

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on carefully removing the original carpets from the 1970 Bristol 411 in order to template replacement pieces as part of its restorative works.

Brian, one of our trimmers, has been removing the pieces from the classic GT in order to separate them into their basic parts for pattern making and to work out the plan of how they all lay into the cockpit of the car.

Once out, the original pieces are laid onto new carpeting and carefully cut, test fit and then bound before being put back into the car over the top of the replacement sound deadening material.

Tailored to Suit – The Tonneau and Hood Cover on the 1932 Lagonda Tourer

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have carefully tailored the new tonneau and hood cover specifically for the 1932 Lagonda Tourer in with us.

Lydia, one of our trimmers, has worked on refining the patterns for both pieces and in terms of the hood cover revised the entire piece to envelope the entire hood frame within the piece. These have been checked and double-checked before being transferred onto mohair.

Once on the final material, Lydia could make tight-fitting pieces perfectly tailored to suit the pre-war convertible with a single zip running up the centre to close the interior once the clips are pressed onto the body.

Underfoot – New Rear Carpets on the 1970 Bristol 411

The trim team have been working on making the brand new carpet set for the 1970 Bristol 411 which is in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop for light restorative work and left-hand drive conversion.

Brian, one of our trimmers, has carefully taken the carpet set under the rear seats out of the car and up to our in-house trim shop in order to template and remake the pieces.

After they had been cut out of new material, the pieces were taken back down to be fitted into the car. The carpet panels need to go into the car in a specific order to sit correctly and fit perfectly inside the cabin of the classic V8 British GT car.

On The Cards – Teardown on the Rear Door Cards of the 1954 Bristol 405

The trim team at the Bridge Classic Cars workshop have begun work on stripping down the rear door cards of the 1954 Bristol 405 in for restoration.

The team began by carefully removing the coverings to use as a reference for the new ones which will be made at our Suffolk HQ by the trim shop. The team could then inspect any pieces or part which may be able to be refurbished or reused before measuring and checking each of the components that make up the door card.

Everything was then catalogued and the original coverings put into storage to be used at a later date for reference.

Refinements – Refining the Tonneau Cover on the 1932 Lagonda 3 Litre Tourer

Ahead of its final version, the trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have worked on refining the shape and form of the tonneau cover on the 1932 Lagonda Tourer.

The team made a draft of the cover out of paper, which was then transferred onto vinyl which was used to check for stretch and overall fitment. Once the team and the client was happy with the overall shape and quality, it could then be refined further to perfectly tailor the cover to the car.

Lydia, one of our trimmers, has worked on making sure the stitches and seems all fall and meet in the right place for the best result. Also, checking to make sure that the opening to the clips that hold the cover down are in the right place and not overly sized in order for the cover to remain tight once on the car.

After this, it was transferred onto the black mohair which will make up the final version of this bespoke piece for the car.

Resting Place – Remaking the 1954 Bristol 405 Armrest

Our in-house trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have worked meticulously on remaking the armrest of the 1954 Bristol 405 which is in for restoration.

The team completely stripped the old piece down to its base parts in order to assess and refurbish any pieces that require attention. The original wooden bases were cleaned up and reused while the foams were completely remade from scratch and shaped to fit.

From Scratch – New Wooden Rear Window Beams for the 1956 Jensen 541

The interior trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have worked on crafting new wooden support beams for the 1956 Jensen 541 in for restoration.

Brian, one of our trimmers, made templates of the original pieces to begin work on carefully cutting and angling the new pieces of pine into the factory position. Each of these pieces were first rough cut before being refined to ensure the perfect fit as these pieces not only add a bit of support to the rear window opening but will also allow the trim team a place to attach the headliner once the interior of the car begins to go in.

Each of the two pieces which made up the beam are cut by hand and then offered up as no two are perfectly uniformed due to the handmade nature of the cars originally.

New Lease of Life – Refurbishing Rear Seat Parts on the 1954 Bristol 405

The interior trim team have worked on refurbishing and refinishing several key parts of the rear seats for the 1954 Bristol 405 currently in with Bridge Classic Cars.

Lydia, one of our trim team, has carefully stripped back the parts to bare metal to fully assess and inspect each individual piece before then preparing them to be refinished in hard-wear durable black paint.

With these pieces now curing, the team can carry on with the retrim of the rear squab seat in the classic Bristol.

Cleaned Up – Cleaning the Rear Window Surround on the 1991 Nissan Figaro

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been finishing up their work on the 1991 Nissan Figaro’s roof. But, while they have access to certain places they took the opportunity to get it all looking and fitting perfectly.

The team took the chance to clean up the rear window surround for the customer to blend into the new roof covering on the classic Nissan.

Now with this done, the car has been handed over to our Paint and Body team to begin machine polishing the car.

Repairs and Remakes – Work on the Seats for the 1954 Bristol 405

The Bristol 405 restoration is on its way with our Trim Shop carrying out several bits of work on both the front and rear seats for the classic 4 door saloon.

The Bridge Classic Cars trim team has remade the elastic webbing which sits beneath the front seats in the classic Bristol. These have been secured onto the refurbished seat bases and the hand-cut foams placed in to check for fitment and alignment.

Next, the team worked on repairing some of the wooden arches of the rear seats in the car. Our trimmer Brian carefully cut out some previous repairs from the piece to securely fix the piece ahead of moving onto to replacing some of the woodwork needed for around the cushion openings.

Loose Edges – Sticking Down the Loose Trims in the 1957 MG A Roadster

The Bridge Classic Cars trim team have also focused on the trims in the 1957 MGA Roadster in our workshop.

Over the years, several of the leather-wrapped trim panels in the classic sports car have begun to loose their adhesive and curl round to the front of the panels or began to fall away from them. So, the trim team have gone through each of the pieces to reglue and secure them adding that little extra touch to the amazingly storied interior of the car.

Tailored – New Tonneau and Hood Cover for the 1932 Lagonda Tourer Mocked Up

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have worked on perfectly tailoring the new tonneau and hood cover for the 1932 Lagonda Tourer.

To begin with, our trimmer Lydia made paper templates to create a rough pattern to work from before was transferred onto black vinyl as part of the drafting process. This allowed the trim team to refine the pieces more and more until it was a perfect fit across the interior and the hood frame of the classic Lagonda.

With these templates now where the team needed to be, they can work on creating the final pieces for the beautiful pre-war tourer.

Out & In – Removing and Installing the Roof on the 1991 Nissan Figaro

The in-house trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on the foldable roof on the 1991 Nissan Figaro at our Suffolk HQ.

To begin with, the team had to remove the old roof from the rails and mechanisms. Also, the team had to remove the rear window which is bolted to the frame and folds down into the cubby with the covering.

Before removing the roof, the team masked up the edges so as to avoid any damage to the paint on the car.

Once everything had been removed and inspected, with several pieces cleaned up at the same time, the team could begin to get the new roof and window back into place. The rear window frame was bolted into the frame to act as a guide for the new soft roof covering to be test fit against.

This Just In – 1932 Lagonda 3 Litre

The breath-taking 1932 Lagonda Tourer has arrived at the Bridge Classic Cars workshop for our restoration teams to begin work on the car.

The first team will be our in-house trim shop, which has been tasked with hand-making a tonneau cover for the classic pre-war Lagonda. The team have also been asked to create a bespoke hood envelope for the foldable roof of the car.

Then, it will be handed over to the paint and body team to address some scratches in the bodywork of the classic Lagonda.

This Just In – 1991 Nissan Figaro

This beautiful 1991 Nissan Figaro arrived into the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshops at our Suffolk HQ just before the Bank Holiday weekend.

The classic Nissan has come in for our interior trim team to take a look at the retractable roof on the car to get it sorted for the owner.

After its inspection and assessment, the team will get to work on making this wonderful Figaro as good as new.

Reimagined – Repairing the Rear Seat and New Front Seat Foams For the 1954 Bristol 405

The interior technicians at Bridge Classic Cars have recreated several key parts for the interior of the 1954 Bristol 405.

To begin with, the team have made brand new foam pieces for the front seats of the classic Bristol as part of its restoration.

Then, the team could keep stripping down the rear seat base of the car to get to the frame that lay beneath. The next part for the trim shop to look into was the foldable armrest. Stripped back to its core, the hinge and piece itself could be assessed and then remade.

From there, the team could use the baseboard as a template to make a new piece entirely from scratch. Transfering the main shape to new wood, the trim shop soaked the ends in water so as to allow the wood to bend into place without snapping or cracking in any way before being pinned to the framework to rest and dry into the needed shape.

Inch by Inch – Removing the Roof from the 1986 Daimler DS420

The trim team at the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshop have worked with our body team to remove the collapsible roof on the 1986 Daimler DS420.

The team needed to remove this as part of the vehicle’s restoration as to inspect and assess the condition of each component as well as the inner and out coverings to use as templates.

Each piece had to be removed gingerly and extremely carefully so as to not damage any of the pieces or mechanisms to best assess each part of the roof.

Delicate Work – Teardown of the Rear Seat Bases on the 1954 Bristol 405

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars are continuing their work on the interior of the 1954 Bristol 405 which is in for restoration by the team at our Suffolk HQ.

The trim team have been carefully dismantling the interior of the classic Bristol in order to inspect and assess its condition and a plan for its restoration.

Once the team had stripped back the entire piece, they could see the condition of the framework underneath and support brackets. While the wooden frames will need attention, the metal brackets were in good enough shape for the team to sandblast and paint them in gloss black to renew them for the project. The foam will also be replaced along with the coverings which are being catalogued and stored for reference later in the project.

Deeper Dive – Inspecting the Front Seats of the 1954 Bristol 405

The interior team at Bridge Classic Cars have been inspecting the condition of the front seats from the 1954 Bristol 405 that is in for restoration.

Each seat is broken down to its base parts and each bolt and hinge is inspected along with the various materials found inside the covers to learn more about their shape and form. The team methodically go through the seats inch by inch making note which parts of them will need to be refurbished or replacements handmade by the team.
