Behind the Scenes – Shooting Our 1968 Morris Mini 850 MkII

After being fully inspected and checked over by the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshop, the team were given the all-clear to get it ready to become our latest classic car competition.

It is of course of beautiful 1968 Morris Mini MkII, and it has one of the most amazing stories of any car we’ve had.

For those who don’t know – this car was delivered brand new to the island of Cyprus where its school teacher took delivery. A few years later, after the invasion of Cyprus, the little Mini was stowed away in a garage. Safe from prying eyes, looters or anyone out to get it. There it sat for 40 years… Alone in a garage. Until it was unearthed and rejuvenated before making its way back to the UK. And ultimately, wound up here at our Suffolk HQ.

The 850cc engine rumbled along the runway as we made our way to the filming location near our safe, secure storage facility. Its simplicity is its greatest charm and its classic shape has made it a favourite with enthusiasts for decades. The car finished in its original colour of Almond Green and tan interior happily zipped around the base.

And now, its time for you to take over the story of the 1968 Morris Mini 850 MkII. The next chapter of this classics Mini journey is with one of you…

What’s the Story? – How the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Stood the Test of Time

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta – A legendary name in the automotive world for many different reasons. But, one thing the plucky 4-door Italian saloon has done is stand the test of time.

Over three iterations, the name spans nearly 70 years with changes and then-modern influences playing their part in each of the cars.

Where we need to start is more of a question of When. The Giulietta name first appeared in 1954 as it was designated for the beautiful Bertone-designed Tipo 750 and 101’s which personified the aesthetics of La Dolce Vita thanks to its contemporary and flowing design. The Giulietta was available in several variants such as Spider, Coupe and Saloon and proved itself on not just the elegant boulevards and winding roads of the Amalfi Coast but in the towns and cities across Europe. It also won on the racetrack, carrying on the great Alfa Romeo tradition of motorsport. The 4 door saloons – the Berlina’s – proved to be the most popular to buyers. The stunning good looks and practicality meant it ticked a lot of the boxes for potential buyers.

By 1961, the first generation Giuliettas would reach the 100,000 mark. With 39,000 of those being the 4-door Berlinas.

The first generation Giulietta would run until 1965, being phased out by the incoming Giulia which was introduced in 1962.

Over the next 12 years, the Giulietta name would lay dormant in the design offices of Alfa Romeos HQ in Turin. Then, in 1977, the world would be graced with a new radically redesigned iteration.

The Tipo 116 would break cover in 1977. Designed as a ‘small executive saloon’ the Tipo 116 was based on the then-current Alfetta’s underpinnings. Our 1981 Alfa Romeo Giulietta is this generation, the much misunderstood Tipo 116.

The second-generation cars would be based on the then popular ‘three box’ design which would dominate automotive styling from the 1970s to the 1990s. A school of thought that favoured angular, sharp creases but allowed a sense of elegance and purpose.

Powered by the quintessential Alfa Romeo twin-cam 4-cylinder engine, the Giulietta’s were mechanically wonderful. Using the rear-mounted 5-speed Transaxle from the Alfetta, the Giuliettas were well balanced for a front-engined saloon car and in certain environments incredible effective. Outside of Europe, the single largest market for Alfa Romeo was South Africa, where the story of our 1981 Giulietta begins. From 1981 to 1984, the country played host to the production of Giuliettas for their market.

1981, the Tipo 116’s were given an aesthetic update as the markets moved to more flamboyant and excess-driven looks at the dawn of the decade of extremes.

The Tipo 116’s were even more popular than the original cars. Over 360,000 cars would be built when production ended in 1985 before being replaced by the Alfa Romeo 75 (that ran until the early 1990s) which used the majority of the Giulietta/Alfetta engineering.

Then once more, the Giulietta name would be shelved. As it gathered dust in the hallways of the Alfa Romeo archive. Slowly forgotten by all but the groups of enthusiasts who appreciate and understand these often confused cars. But, as the 21st century’s first decade came to a close – the time was right for the name to reappear.

In 2010, the Giulietta name graced the rear hatch of a modern Alfa Romeo. Charged with carrying on the name and modern styling which sits at the core of an Alfa Romeo the Tipo 940 would stay in production until 2020. Being a staple of the Alfa Romeo line-up and help to keep its stake as one of the world’s most formidable auto manufacturers.

What sits at the core of the Giulietta also sits at the core of what it means to be an Alfa Romeo. They develop personalities and dare we say it, even a soul in some ways. They must be understood and cared for in order to be appreciated fully – The most important thing in all of that is to truly understand the car.

Behind the Scenes – Shooting the 2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed

The Bridge Classic Cars team have been shooting our latest competition: the 203MPH, 600BHP 2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed. The absolute epitome of style and elegance married with pure power and performance.

Before anyone could take it out and drive it, it was fully checked over by the Bridge Classic Cars workshop team who have the car the green light to head up to The Hangar for filming.

As the 6-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 roared into life on the pad outside our secure storage facility, we all knew this was going to be an amazing shoot. From the first symphonious signs of life, the Bentley quietened down and become all the more civilised. The stunning anthracite paintwork danced underneath the summer sun from any angle, while its quilted beluga black leather gave the imposing long-legged GT car a cabin made for comfort as it made its way along the taxiway.

The 12-cylinder engine made its way along at little more than a whisper, gently pulling along at only a touch more than idle.

Molly was firmly behind the wheel and loving every moment. As the GT Speed made lap after lap of the filming location, you could feel it wanting to stretch its legs. Its inherent need to cover great distances, at wonderful speeds in supreme comfort is so ingrained in a car like the Continental GT. But, it’s also well-mannered and light to the touch with its controls, the linear acceleration (a characteristic of the twin-turbo W12) means that can be trusted and relied on to behave itself in a civilised everyday world.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1995 Dodge Viper RT/10

This week’s live draw was a very special one. Not only was it for our incredible 1995 Dodge Viper RT/10 but it was the first of a new format for our classic car live draws thanks to our amazing friends over at Bruizer.

The new way of doing the live draws means the ability to swap between multiple cameras during the live stream but also to play in some of our videos of competition cars and updates from our restoration workshop! We’re really excited and hope you are too!

The imposing Viper sat in the centre of our competition building, pride of place. This is one of the most exciting cars we’ve ever had the opportunity to bring to our amazing followers. Molly, Craig and Freddie showed our watchers around the eclectic mix we currently have at our Suffolk HQ. From a 1950 Land Rover Series 1 to a 200 MPH 2008 Bentley and everything you can imagine in between.

But, everyone wanted to know if they had the ticket which would mean they were going to take delivery of the iconic 1990s supercar. As always, our pre-published entry lists go live on our website after the tickets close at 7:10pm. We use Google Random Number Generator to spin the metaphorical wheel of fortune, and find the winner ticket number. After a test run using numbers not included in the entry list, it was time to find our winner.

Molly input the criteria of 1 to 9999 and with one swift touch of a button, the Viper had a new home. The winner was Mike Fairley with ticket number 3938. The ecstatic new owner of the legendary Dodge Viper!

Behind the Scenes – Shooting the 1981 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

The Bridge Classic Cars team have been working behind the scenes to bring you this, our latest competition car. Our 1981 Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

After being checked over by our in-house workshops and given the all-clear for filming, it was taken over to our filming location at The Hangar. There, it was handed over to Freddie and Molly to get ready for its competition debut.

The stunning Shahini blue paintwork contrasted against the evergreen backgrounds of the former airforce base. Its characterful Alfa Romeo twin-cam 4-cylinder engine gave every sense of personality and music to the occasion. As Molly took it round the loop, the Alfa behaved beautifully. With the windows down, the sunroof open and the sun beaming down, there weren’t many better places to be at that moment in time.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of REC Icon 1000 TTT Watch & 2020 Triumph Street Twin

This was a very specialist live draw at Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ. It was the first live draw of the newest member of our team, Molly.

With the support of the entire team here at our restoration workshops behind her, it was time to start the live stream to all of our friends and followers across the internet.

To begin with, Freddie and Molly went through a bit about her background and how she ended up becoming the newest member of the team here at Bridge. Then, it was time for a look around some of the incredible machinery we have in our competition building. The recently launched Dodge Viper pulling all the attention from everything else in the room… but the team to the chance to have a look around some of the other pieces we have in currently including the wonderful 1950 Land Rover Series 1 being prepared for auction by our restoration workshop.

But, it was time for us to find out who the lucky new owners of our special edition watch and Street Twin were.

First up – the watch. As the team got the Google Random Number Generator up on the screen, the anticipation built. After going through a quick test run to make sure everything was working as it should and so everyone watching along could see clearly, it was time to find out who the lucky new owner of this very special watch was. With number set, it was now down to fate.

With a whir on the screen, the final number appeared. 401. This ticket had been bought by Graham Suttill, the lucky new owner of the REC Icon 1000TTT Watch.

Then it was time to go straight into the main event. Finding out who the new owner of our 2020 Triumph Street Twin was. As Molly reset the number in the random number generator, we wished everyone good luck. And then with one click, it was decided. Barry Druce had just won our 2020 Triumph Street Twin with ticket number 874.

Behind the Scenes – Shooting the 1995 Dodge Viper RT/10

The time had come. As the glorious 8-litre V10 fired into life, the rapturous noise bouncing off the walls of the legendary Bentwaters Hush House you could feel the excitement of the team build.

It was finally time, to shoot our latest competition – the legendary 1995 Dodge Viper RT/10.

After being inspected by the Bridge Classic Cars workshop and cleared for filming, it was taken over to our secure storage facility, The Hangar, for the team to start work.

The Hush House, an old engine testing facility on the base, has been the background for several of our own photoshoots as well as a basis for photoshoots by major racing teams and manufacturers. The 2022 Williams F1 livery was revealed with the images of their F1 car in its extractor tunnel.

As Freddie, eased the Viper into the tunnel, the noise only grew in its ferocity and volume. The team then got the car perfectly into position before filming the all-important reveal sequence, giving you the first glimpses of this 1990s supercar icon. From there, Craig along with Freddie, eased the car down the ramps and out of the tunnel to get everything set up to let the Viper stretch its legs on the ex-American Air Base.

As Craig ran the Viper through the gears on the old turning circle, the supercar flexed its muscles. The sight and sound of this bedroom poster come to life was enough to have the whole team smiling as it accelerated past the camera car.

Behind the Scenes – Shooting the 1971 MG B Roadster at Helmingham Hall

After its full check-over by the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, the latest competition car was given the green light to go off for a very special shoot.

The soft and warm light of a summer’s evening set the perfect backdrop for a drive in a classic roadster. The delicate rays of light dancing over its British Racing Green paintwork only highlighted the timeless shape and sophistication of our 1971 MG B Roadster.

The location only added to that air. The stunning Helmingham Hall here in Suffolk, where our MG B Roadster will be won in just over 2 weeks’ time.

The team transported the car into the grounds of the country estate which would be used as the location for this shoot. The team jostled the car into position, perfectly framed by the brick archway of the entrance to the main house, before it was let loose on the grounds with Lucy and Lily at the helm of the classic roadster. The beautiful 1.8-litre 4-cylinder happily singing past the rows of oak trees that line the estate’s meandering roads.

With the roof down, the MG B’s beautiful black interior set a wonderful contrast against its driver and passenger. Highlighting the depth and grace of these much-loved sports cars.

It could have been a scene from a 1970s arthouse film – The amber hues from the building’s glorious red brickwork falling on the parched grass only to be shocked by the richness of the green on the car.

The magical nature of a roadster in summer is something all enthusiast drivers can appreciate. That feeling of letting the outside in, noticing the sights and sounds missed when completely enveloped in the steel and glass canopy of a coupe. Driving purely for the love of driving, nowhere to really go and no time to be there.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1979 Porsche 911 Targa

Last night, the Bridge Classic Cars team got together to find out who the lucky new owner of the 1979 Porsche 911 Targa was!

The live stream started off a touch different this time, with Craig and Freddie showing our followers something very exciting that’s coming up soon and letting them witness and experience this amazing red and white beast… but we can’t give too much of it away on here just yet.

The live stream then moved on to Freddie and Craig having a look around our competitions building and giving our views several sneak peeks of what’s coming up very soon. Also, our show coming next Sunday! Head over to our show page here for more information.

Then, at 10 past 7, the competition closed. Only 240 of the 4750 tickets remained at the end and the entry list was made ready for the team.

Then, it was time to run the draw.

As always, we use a Google Random Number Generator to determine the winner. Craig test the system to show the viewers and then it was time. Setting the criteria between 1 and 4750, with one simple click – the fate of the 911 was decided.

The whir of numbers stopped as quickly as it had started. the screen showed 1766. Checking the entry list, that number had been assigned to Richard Smyth.

The team gave Richard a call – as we do with all our live draws. He answered and chatted with Craig letting us into an amazing story. He had wanted a Porsche 911 since he was 9 years old and now, he has his very own 1979 Porsche 911 Targa.

The Winners Circle – David Takes Delivery of His 1993 Land Rover Defender 90

It’s only been a couple of days since the live draw of our 1993 Land Rover Defender 90 but the Bridge Classic Cars transport team have already delivered the car to its new owner, David, in Scotland.

The team made the trip north from our Suffolk HQ with the off-roader strapped down onto our open trailer, this is only used very rarely when a car physically will not fit in our enclosed transporter. But, the team made the driver to a very excited and expectant David who was thrilled to receive his new Defender.

Behind the Scenes – Shooting the 1969 Sunbeam Rapier

The Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team have just launched this! Our 1969 Sunbeam Rapier.

The team took the fully inspected Rapier fastback to our filming location to begin getting the necessary photos and videos to bring you the latest competition car.

The bright red coupe looked incredible in the summer sun. Its paintwork is only complemented further by the exceptional black interior and black/silver wheels.

The 1.7-litre 4-cylinder engine pulled strong as it made its way across the ex-airfield. The twin Weber carburettors gave their signature snarl with every blip of the throttle much to the delight of the team. It was a perfect machine for the best time of year. A low-slung and sleek fastback. A micro-muscle car with strong, chiselled looks but on a delicate and nimble scale.

Behind the Scenes – Shooting the 1993 Land Rover Defender 90

Just launched over on the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website is this! Our 1993 Land Rover Defender 90.

After a full check over by the Bridge Classic Cars workshop who gave it a clean bill of health after fitting the battery cut-off switch ahead of its date in front of the camera.

Recently the team took it out around our filming location near our Pettistree workshop to do the full video and photoshoot for the off-roader.

The beauty of the Defender was clear when as soon as we pulled off the beaten track, the truck felt at home. Uneven ground, changing surfaces and slow, steady progress across any type of terrain is the best place for a classic Land Rover. But then, as soon you put it back onto solid ground it became a pleasant cruiser. The updates done by the previous owner made the car far more civilised than one would imagine.

The quilted seats and upholstered armrests made driving the car an absolute delight on the road and made sure you had some comfort while the 4-wheel drive system did its work underneath you in the rough stuff. Although built in 1993, the truck was updated last year to a much more modern specification to use around town as a rugged, reliable daily driver or the perfect set-up for a weekend away in the country.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1968 Morris Minor Van

Last night, Bridge Classic Cars Competitions found out who the lucky winner of the 1968 Morris Minor Van was and as always, we live streamed it on our Facebook page!

Moments before the live stream started, the classic Morris van sold out completely!

The night began with a walkaround of our new competitions building with Hayley and Freddie showing everyone watching along what we’ve got coming up and what is currently live on our Competitions website.

Then, Hayley handed over to our director Craig for a brief tour around our restoration workshop to show you a very special moment where we had 3 Jensen 541’s in for work, all in different stages of their build. From a bare chassis back from sandblasting to a full rebuilt frame and then a finished and complete 541R.

But, it was time to give the audience what they had been waiting for. Finding out just who had won the classic Morris Minor Van. So, using our random number generator and pre-published entry list the team began the process.

As Hayley input the numbers between 1 and 4199 in the number generator the anticipation built. Messages of luck were shared between total strangers on the internet wishing each other well. Then with one click of a button, the new owner had been found.

Robert Cargill had been allocated ticket 1124 – The number that had appeared on the random number generator and checked against our entry list.

After finding his details, Hayley gave him a ring live on the Facebook stream with possible the best reaction we have ever had to a competition. Robert and his wife were absolutely ecstatic with their new classic Morris Minor!

It’s amazing to see the winner is a true Lotus enthusiast and really excited to get behind the wheel of the brand new Lotus Emira very soon at Hethel.

Behind the Scenes – Shooting our 1985 Jaguar Sovereign V12

This is the latest Bridge Classic Cars Competitions car! This stunning 1985 Jaguar Sovereign V12.

It all began on a beautifully sunny day out in the Suffolk countryside.

Hayley, Freddie and Nick all loaded up their gear and headed out to the filming location with the beautiful long-legged Jaguar after the car had been completely inspected and assessed by the Bridge Classic Cars in-house restoration team. The only work needed was a small leak from the radiator of the classic Jaguar which was repaired and thoroughly rested.

The supple and wonderfully smooth ride helped the team glide down the rough roads of the former airbase we use for filming. As the classic Jaguar floated across the airbase, we all knew this was going to be an amazing experience for the team.

The V12 providing the soundtrack for the team and the weather giving us the best background in which to shoot this classic icon of luxury against. The team had an absolute blast driving the classic Sovereign in the early summer sun – and now, we cannot wait for you to experience the power, the prestige and the purpose of this classic Jaguar.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1980 Supercharged Mini Van

Last night, Bridge Classic Cars went to find out who the lucky new owner of our 1980 Supercharged Mini Van was.

At 7PM live on our Facebook page, we welcomed our followers watching along to our competition build which houses all of our competition cars and a couple of our personal cars and finished restoration projects. To begin with, we began our live stream from the inside of our new 1993 Land Rover Defender 90.

Then, Hayley and Freddie took everyone around the various cars which are held inside the building at our Suffolk HQ. Including the beautiful Saffron Yellow 1973 Triumph TR6 and the 1972 Lotus Elan +2. Of course, we couldn’t miss out on the car everyone was there for, the 1980 Supercharged Mini Van.

After the look around, it was time to find out who the new owner of this tiny terror was. The competition had sold out the day before so the entry list, as with all of our entry lists, is pre-published on our website for all to see. With 4999 tickets, we fired up the Random Number Generator.

With the parameters set, with one click of a button the fate of the Mini was sealed.

Its new owner was Peter with ticket 4529.

The team will give the Mini its pre-delivery inspection and one final check over before it is delivered straight to Peter.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1985 Porsche 911, TAG Heuer Carrera & 2007 Jaguar XKR at Beach Street Felixstowe

With the weather getting better and better, the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team decided to change things up a little bit. For this, we took our latest competition cars down to Beach Street in Felixstowe to find out who the lucky winners were of our amazing 1985 Porsche 911, TAG Heuer Carrera and the 2007 Jaguar XKR.

The setting was perfect by the coast as the late spring sun began to move back towards the horizon. The team set up the cars ready to show everyone online and everyone at Beach Street to look around, including a newly launched 1980 supercharged Mini Van.

After the usual walk around, it was time to find out who’s lucky day it really was. The team input the numbers for the Google Random Number Generator to choose from and then with a single click, it was done.

Behind the Scenes – Shooting the 1980 Austin Mini Van

There is something about a classic Mini which cannot help but put a smile across your face and that’s before you’ve even driven it. Just seeing one is a sure-fire way to brighten up your day. So, that’s why the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team have sourced this. A 1980 Austin Morris Mini Van.

Beneath its humble and unassuming green paintwork though, lies a true athlete. Being a workhorse, the Mini Van was originally fitted with 998cc 4-cylinder engine. It’s previous owner however has fitted the pint-sized prowler with a 1380cc supercharged engine with a sports exhaust system so the whole world can hear about it. The team were very excited to shoot this particular car!

As the team pulled the classic Mini out of our secure storage facility, The Hangar, it happily sat idling in the late-spring sun. After it’s check-over by the restoration workshops at our Suffolk HQ, and given the full green-light, the team could take it out onto the airfield to shoot what needed to be done. The Mini pulled away perfectly, it wasn’t savage or had a throttle like a hair-trigger. It was actually rather civilised. With the sliding front windows open and the engine happily buzzing along this is the type of classic you could quite happily use for longer journeys or even on your commute to work when the weather is nice.

The reversed Cooper S wheels allow for more rubber to be placed under the Mini, which has had recent suspension and steering work done to it by the previous owner, and you can really tell there’s more contact with the tarmac that rushes under your feet. The short, sharp steering gives you all the feedback you need and when you need the brakes, they are right there when you want them.

The interior, is sparse and utilitarian. The single Cooper S style instrument panel is the only form of distraction in an otherwise purposeful setting. A perfect place to be when you experience the pull and whine of the Vmaxscart Supercharger fitted to the car…

Behind the Scenes – Shooting the 1985 Porsche 911

It’s a dream car to many, a hero to some and an icon to all. It’s also the latest Bridge Classic Cars Competition. The 1985 Porsche 911.

After the inspection of the car by the restoration teams and given the green light, the car was released to Freddie, Hayley and Nick to begin the process of shooting this legendary air-cooled Porsche 911. the team headed to our filming location to get to work and just to experience this incredible driving machine.

The day was perfect for it. White clouds broke up the endless blue sky as the late spring sunshine draped itself over the glossy black paintwork of the car. From every angle, the car looked just like it had done in countless bedroom posters for generations. To some, the air-cooled 911s are the purest of their design. A common link shared from its earliest days at the beginning of the 1960s up until the late 1990s. But this one is special.

It has been asked for by so many of our followers, we have been waiting for the right one to come along. The car is finished in gloss black with a black/red interior which looked incredible as the team jumped into the car. Then, without so much as a hesitation after the signature key was turned, the 3.2-litre flat-six spat into life with a satisfying crack before the synonymous rumble filled the Suffolk air. All of us that day knew this was going to be an incredible car.

Freddie and Hayley took the car up to our filming location to start shooting with the classic 911. As it pulled away, you could feel the car wanting to stretch its legs. The potential and promise of a driving experience unlike any other at your fingertips.

As the morning continued, the 911 ran faultlessly. Happily going from an idle to speed and back again over and over while Freddie got the exact shots he needed. On different roads around our shoot, the classic Porsche soaked up any bumps or ruts without so much as a wince or gritting of teeth for either the car or the driver. A short, flat out run or a long-legged cruise would suit this 911 down to the ground. It really is a car for all seasons.

Behind the Scenes – East Coast Mini Club Visit & Live Draw of the 1993 Rover Mini and 2012 Mercedes Benz SLK250 CDI

Over the bank holiday weekend, the Bridge Classic Cars team welcomed East Coast Mini Club to our restoration workshops in Suffolk.

The club were doing their annual charity run with this year’s run being in aid of the Addenbrookes Charitable Trust which had helped 2 of its members in need of their expert help. So, to help out the East Coast Mini club raised nearly £900 through a raffle and an auction to help their Transport Unit with fundraising.

After the meet was done, a few of the members stayed around for the live draw of our 1993 Rover Mini and 2012 Mercedes SLK250CDI. A few of the members even had tickets for the Mini!

Hayley and Freddie gave everyone joining in on the live stream a look around our competition building and the beautiful classics that we have in. We were also joined by our friend Simon’s all-electric Mini which has recently starred in a Discovery Channel series and appeared in a video with YouTuber PetrolPed.

But it was then time to find out who the very lucky new owners of the 1993 Rover Mini and 2012 Mercedes SLK250 CDI. Both had completely sold out before the draw and the Mercedes actually sold out nearly a week before its scheduled draw!

First, was the Mercedes. The pre-published entry list was checked and Hayley set the numbers in the Random Number Generator. And, with one single click, we found who the winner was. Number 3204 belonging to Andy Wells.

Then the car everyone in the room was waiting for. The 1993 Rover Mini.

As the entry list was checked and the number generator reset, the anticipation built. With a few words of good luck and a single click, it was done. The new owner of the Mini was Jake Lees with ticket number 614.

Behind the Scenes – Photoshoot with the 2012 Mercedes Benz SLK250D

This 2012 Mercedes SLK250D is the latest offering from Bridge Classic Cars Competitions for someone out there to win and enjoy the encroaching summer with!

That means, there has to be a photoshoot! Before Freddie could take the modern sports-convertible out to the filming location near our secure storage facility, The Hangar, it first had a full check over by the workshop who gave it a clean bill of health and the green light for it to be driven.

The beautiful modern SLK, blends the handsome good looks of the bigger SL with smaller dimensions and a sportier feel. This particular car, from 2012, is fitted with the 2.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine that makes around 200BHP but nearly double that in torque…

Meaning this small sports car is lively. But, it’s also incredibly economical on fuel if you did use it every day with reports ranging from 50-70 MPG but the performance to have some fun with and a folding metal hardtop to let the outside world into the car.

Stablemates – Our 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider at Its New Home

The Bridge Classic Cars Competitions 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider has arrived at its new home with its winner Trevor and a very special stablemate for it to spend its future with.

The classic Alfa Romeo Spider will be sharing its life with a WW2 era Jeep which is part of Trevor’s collection. Well, now that’s quite the variety of cars for different occasions!

Third Donation – Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal TVR S2

The latest round of DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal donations has been sent off from Bridge Classic Cars Competitions to directly help those affected by the recent invasion.

As many know, the car was donated by previous winner Jar Joyce to help fundraise for the DEC’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. So far, we have raised over £27,000 which will be used to help those affected and displaced by the conflict unfolding around them.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1986 Ford Capri

Last night saw the draw of the latest Bridge Classic Cars Competitions prize, the 1986 Ford Capri Laser.

But, to change things up we decided to start it off a little bit differently. Those following along with Bridge Classic Cars Competitions will know that we also have just released our newest competition, a 2021 FB Mondial 300.

So, we had our friend and local motorcycle vlogger Karina (AKA Bike Like a Mum) ride it into our new building. This bike can be won along with £1000 to go towards either getting your license or new riding gear! You can enter the competition now just by clicking this link.

After Craig had a chat with Karina about her motorcycling story and go through some of the details on the bike, it was time to have a look round some of the other classics in our new Competitions building.

The 1966 Jaguar MkII and 1970 Morris Minor are scheduled to be won next Thursday with tickets still available on both. Along with that was an update on our 1989 TVR S2 competition in aid of the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal which as of last night went over the £25,000 mark with amazing support coming from all corners of not only the automotive media and industry but also from enthusiasts alike.

Then it was time for the main event, to find out who the lucky new owner of the 1986 Ford Capri Laser was. As with all of our competitions, once the ticket entries close at 630PM the entry lists are published ahead of the live stream at 7PM. Using the Google Random Number generator, Craig did some test runs to make sure that everything was working just as it should.

With that, Criag put in the parameters for the number generator and then with the click of a button and a whir of numbers, the future of the Capri was decided. 1384.

That was the ticket number selected by the random number generator. Cross referencing the pre-published entry list it was found to belong with Matthew Mitchell. The lucky new owner of the 1986 Ford Capri Laser.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1959 MGA Twin Cam & 1979 Triumph Spitfire

Our 1959 MGA Twin Cam and 1979 Triumph Spitfires have found their very lucky new owners in last night’s live draw. Let’s go behind the scenes…

For this live draw, it was just the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team. At the closing time for tickets of 630pm, there were still 1100 tickets remaining on the MGA Twin Cam and around 400 on the Spitfire – which means incredible odds for those who had entered. But, none of us knew just who the new owners would be.

After the customary walk around of the cars in our new competition building, talking to our incredible audience on our live stream, it was time to find out who lady luck was smiling on last night. As always, we use a Random Number Generator in order to select the ticket numbers from the pre-published entry lists which are available to view before the draw.

First up was the stunning Inca Yellow 1979 Triumph Spitfire, one of the best sounding cars that we have ever had in with its upgraded stainless steel system, the sound matches its striking good looks. As the numbers were loaded into the random number generator, anticipation built. Then, with a wiring flash on the new big-screen monitor, the number appeared. 2170. This particular ticket was allocated to Neil James. The new, very lucky owner of the 1979 Inca Yellow Triumph Spitfire.

Without holding up proceedings, everyone wanted to know who was going to win the 1959 MGA Twin Cam. A car with possibly one of the best backstories we have ever had in. A true race car from its earliest days and then a classic sports car connection between a father, a son and a racing team. XLE40, the 1959 MGA Twin Cam has got an incredible history (which you can read about here). But, we were here to find out who its latest custodian was. Hayley input the numbers into the generator, and with a single click, the fate of the MGA Twin Cam had been decided. The screen showed 3476. The ticket number bought by Peter Leyland. The MGA Twin Cam’s new owner.

As a custom, we call the winners on the live stream. Unfortunately, Neil didn’t answer the phone. But Peter did. Hayley and the team had a chat with him, a true MG enthusiast at heart. He was overwhelmed with his new addition.

Soon, these two will be heading off to their new lives away from us with their wonderful new owners to adore.

The latest car up grabs from Bridge Classic Cars Competitions is this beautiful 1952 MG TD.

The Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team took this stunning little sports car out to the airfield to do its photoshoot. This car is a true reminder for any enthusiasts about the joy of driving, the elegant simplicity of these early sports cars.

As the chirpy 4 cylinder engine buzzed along the runway, the whole team couldn’t help but smile as the classic sports car drove through the forest near our storage facility, The Hangar.
