Jonn brought the Rover Vitesse into the workshop and jacked up the vehicle to remove the front wheels. On the offside, he stripped out the track rod end, which was found to be seized in place. To resolve this, he cut off the track rod end and removed it, then applied heat to the track rod to free the lock nut. A new track rod end was fitted, secured, and the wheel was refitted.

The same procedure was carried out on the nearside, though in this case the track rod was free and required no cutting. A new track rod end was fitted and secured, and the wheels were refitted and torqued to 88Nm. A tracking check was performed and adjustments were made, setting the alignment to 0 degrees 30 minutes toe out in line with the specified settings. A road test was scheduled to be completed once the column bush replacement had been carried out.
