Jonn carried out the pre-delivery inspection on our 1993 Ford Escort XR3i. As part of this, he tightened the nearside door check strap to ensure proper operation. He then reconnected the nearside repeater multiplug located under the bonnet near the battery and re-routed the associated wiring for improved positioning. Additionally, he completed a glue repair to the driver’s side kick panel and secured it in place.

Jonn then continued work on our 1993 Ford Escort XR3i, investigating a fault with the central locking system. He discovered that a fuse was missing and, upon replacing it, the alarm horn sounded continuously. To isolate the issue, he removed the fuse again, then disconnected the horn siren and refitted the fuse. With the siren disconnected, the central locking system operated correctly. Jonn then removed the horn siren entirely.

Jonn inflated all tyres on our 1993 Ford Escort XR3i, checked and topped up all fluid levels, and torqued the wheel nuts. Shortly after, the car failed to start, with the fuel pump found to be inoperative. He confirmed there was no power at the fuse and proceeded to remove the kick panel to inspect the inertia switch wiring. A poor connection was identified and corrected, and the battery was placed on charge. Once power was restored to both the inertia switch and the fuse, the car started without issue. Jonn then refitted the inertia switch and kick panel.

He also investigated a fault with the fuel gauge, which was not registering correctly. After adding 10 litres of fuel with no response from the gauge, he drove to a fuel station and was only able to add a further 8 litres before the tank was full, yet the gauge continued to show empty. He checked the wiring connections under the rear seat and found both power and earth connections appeared to be in order.
