Jon carried out a pre-delivery inspection and a series of repairs on our 1965 Jaguar 340 Mk2. He fitted new bulbs to the boot light and reverse light, testing them to confirm proper operation, and also crimped a terminal onto the interior light wiring before testing it successfully. He unblocked the washer jets, though noted the pump is no longer serviceable and will require replacement.

Jon then began work on the clutch system by removing the air filter and battery to gain access, before taking out the clutch master cylinder and the old flexible hose. He fitted a new hose and master cylinder, topped up the fluid, bled the clutch, and tested it with good results. He next moved on to the water pump replacement, removing the grille and draining the coolant overnight. The old pump was then stripped out, the hoses cleaned, and the radiator flushed. After cleaning the surfaces, Jon installed the new water pump with a fresh gasket, fitted a new nut and bolt to the dynamo, and adjusted the belt. He vacuum filled the cooling system and ran the engine briefly, which performed well.

To finish, Jon checked the bonnet security, lubricating the cable and catch while working them back and forth. The handle remains slightly stiff but improved, and the bonnet now shuts securely when the cable handle is pushed back home after release. He then refitted the grille.
