A pre-delivery inspection was carried out on our 1960 Austin Healey 3000. All tyres were inflated, and the wheels were secured. The battery was placed on charge, and a new bulb was fitted to the offside rear stop/tail/indicator, which was then tested. The fuel tank was filled with synthetic fuel before taking the vehicle outside to warm up.

Initially, the engine failed to start, prompting the removal, cleaning, and re-gapping of the spark plugs. Once restarted and warmed up, the engine ran rough at idle. The mixture was weakened, and a road test was conducted. After returning to the workshop, further adjustments were made to the mixture and idle speed, resulting in improved performance. It is suspected that the engine is fitted with a high-lift camshaft, requiring a higher idle speed for optimal running.
