Jon began work on our 1958 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite by stripping down the relevant components to fit the newly arrived handbrake actuation rods. He positioned the rods in place and took precise measurements to determine the correct lengths for proper installation.
Jon then continued work on our 1958 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite by removing the handbrake actuation rods and cutting them down to the required length. He extended the thread on the longer rod to allow for sufficient adjustment, then refitted both rods and made initial adjustments. With everything mounted correctly, he found the shorter rod still required further adjustment. Once all components were aligned, he fitted the clevis pins and tested the handbrake, which initially registered nine clicks. After adjusting the cable as much as possible, a retest brought it to six to seven clicks, which was within the acceptable range.
He then cleaned all the clevis pins, applied grease as each was fitted, and secured them with split pins, bending each into place. The lock nuts on the adjusting rods were tightened and secured, followed by a final test confirming the handbrake was operating correctly.
