At the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshops, we’re no strangers to ground up restorations – but we’ll also handle just about any job on a classic car as we like to see these automotive pieces of history return to their former glory and be used and adored for years to come – just like this 1978 Mercedes 350SL. Our fabricator Greg has been extensively working on the classic German GT convertible to get it back into shape. This time he has welded in the lift supports/jacking points on the sills of our 1978 Mercedes 350SL and completed the work with the supports fully finished and secure into the main structure of the monocoque to ensure it is stable and safe.

Alongside getting the underside of the car back into shape and secure, Greg turns his attention to some of the larger panels on the car. He has carefully marked out and trimmed the very leading edges of the boot with the help of our paint and body manager Chris, to get the correct width shut lines for the car so when it comes time to get the car into colour and reassembly everything fits up beautifully and uniformed.

Also, whilst looking at the panel gaps on the car – Greg found an area of rust on the windshield frame which will need to be rectified to get this piece secure and stable for when the windscreen is installed in the car.
