More Repairs

Jonn continued repairs on our 1997 Mercedes 280SL by inspecting the offside front fog light. He confirmed the bulb was intact and the fuses were in working order. After cleaning the connector, the light functioned correctly, and he then refitted the arch liner. Moving to the centre air vents, he removed and stripped them, reattaching the adjusters with adhesive and allowing them to set before refitting the vents, which were then operating correctly. He also removed the offside vent, reassembled its internal components, and refitted it to the dash with successful operation.

Attention then returned to the driver’s door panel, where Jonn resecured the bottom edge. On the offside mirror, he stripped the unit and found the motor functioning in all directions, though it was not moving the mirror plate due to breakage. He bonded the motor adjuster to the mirror plate and left it to set overnight.

Following this, he refitted the mirror motor plate, tested its operation, and confirmed it was secure. The mirror glass was installed, and the mirror was adjusted as required. The top of the driver’s door panel remained off its clips, prompting further stripping for adjustment.
