Repair work has continued on our 1978 MG Midget. It began with the removal of the nearside brake components and backplate. The hub and backplate were taken off, the backplate was rubbed down and repainted in black.
The rear brake rebuild then continued with the cleaning of the hub, pressing out of the wheel bearing, and removal of the hub seal. After a second cleaning of the hub, a new seal was installed and the bearing refitted.
A new O-ring and gasket were fitted to the hub face before refitting the hub itself. New brake shoes were installed, the hub nuts were tightened, and the lock tab was knocked over. The half shaft was refitted and secured to complete this stage of the work.
