John carried out a series of minor repairs on our 1973 MG B Roadster. He began by removing the driver’s door panel to inspect the correct location for the window height limiter. With the window raised to its maximum height, he fitted a nut and bolt to prevent it from travelling too high. Upon testing, he found the window was not fully engaging in the runners, so he lubricated and repositioned the rear runner before retesting, confirming smooth operation.

Using plastic sheet supplied by the bodyshop, John created a new door weather shield and secured it in place before refitting the door panel. He then attended to the glove box lid striker, fitting a new one and securing it. During testing, he found the lock was catching and the key could not be turned far enough to be removed. To resolve this, he removed the striker, ground away a small section, and refitted it, ensuring it closed and locked correctly.

John then removed the battery cover and rear carpet, using the carpet as a template to cut a Dynamat sound-deadening sheet to shape. He positioned it in the car, trimming as necessary, and worked across from one side to the other, pressing it firmly into the contours of the floor with a rag and an old hammer head. The battery cover was placed back in position to mark out openings, after which John gave it to Chris for painting. He cut holes for the batteries and painted the exposed edges black.
