Work was carried out on our 1980 MG Midget by refitting and securing the rack gaiter. The threads on the track rod end were cleaned before refitting the lock nut.

A new track rod end was installed; as it was slightly longer than the original, it required more turns to fit, exceeding the 15 turns previously needed for removal. The positioning was adjusted by eye, and the ball pin nut was tightened.

The wheel was then refitted and secured. The vehicle was taken off the ramp and driven back and forth to allow the suspension to settle. Tracking was checked using gauges, adjusted as necessary, and the car was then driven around the yard to confirm alignment. Steering was confirmed to be straight with no pull. The track rod lock nuts were secured, and the car was parked outside.
