Jonn continued with offside rear brake and hub repairs on our 1978 MG Midget. The bearing and seal were removed from the front hub, which was then cleaned before fitting a new hub seal. The bearing was refitted, followed by a new O-ring and gasket. The backplate was cleaned and new brake shoes installed. The hub was refitted, the nut tightened, and the lock tab knocked over. The adjusters were lubricated, and the drum was cleaned and refitted before adjusting the shoes.

The gearbox oil was drained, and the rear axle oil was topped up. The gearbox drain bung, which had been weeping, was tightened and the gearbox refilled with new oil. The rear exhaust clamp was tightened.

A battery hold-down rod was taken from stock. A 1/4″ UNF thread was cut, and the rod was fitted to secure the battery. The fuel filter arrangement was tidied by repositioning the main feed pipe and securing it to the inner wing. The pipe was cut back, the filter fitted, connected to the lift pump, and secured.
