John investigated an issue with our 1976 Jensen Interceptor which has entered the trouble shooting phase of its restoration here at Bridge Classic Cars. The issue turns out to be where the battery was discharging overnight. He connected a meter to the battery with everything switched off and measured a drain of 3.45 amps. To trace the source, he removed each fuse in turn, but none made any difference, so further investigation was required. Various components were then disconnected in an effort to isolate the fault, and the wiring was traced back from the battery with power supplies removed to narrow down the cause.

During this process, Ben noted that the central locking button did not operate positively. When he demonstrated its use, the current draw immediately dropped to zero. Jon removed the switch, stripped it down, cleaned and lubricated it, then refitted it. A final check confirmed the drain had been eliminated, resolving the fault.
