Howard Watts

Riddelsdell Bros has been part of Boxford’s community since 1900, earning its title as the world’s oldest working automotive garage. Today, it operates as Howard Watts Automotive incorporating Riddelsdell Bros Limited and continuing to grow its extensive range of services for modern and classic cars, as well as motorbikes.

Let’s look back to 1971, when a 15-year-old Howard expected to follow a straightforward path into his father’s garage. That changed abruptly when he came home from school one day and learned he wouldn’t be joining the family business just yet.

“He wanted me to gain valuable experience, life skills and a profession I was passionate about,” Howard recalls. “At 16, I joined British Oxygen in London as a graduate apprentice but I continued buying and selling cars as a hobby.”

Howard continues the legacy of his late father, Fred Watts, who from 1950 ran a thriving motor business, Car Sprayers Colchester which later became M&F Watts of Colchester when his brother Maurice joined him.

If you find yourself near Boxford, a visit to Howard’s remarkable garage is well worth your time. Howard believes the business has grown on the foundations of trust and passion, and he and his team are proud to serve clients all across the globe.

Since launching in July 2024, Ipswich.co.uk has gained nearly 4,000 newsletter subscribers, attracted more than 500,000 visits and 800,000 page views, and continues to grow rapidly.

“Twelve months ago, I sold my car to buy a domain name. Today, that domain has been visited more than half a million times by people who share our vision for what strong local journalism should be. It has been a year of relentless hard work that has tested my resolve at every turn—but as we celebrate our first anniversary, I can say with complete certainty that every sacrifice has been worth it.”

Before founding Ipswich.co.uk, Oliver spent 15 years helping to grow some of the UK’s largest media brands including The Sun, The Times, and hundreds of local news titles, as well as technology companies operating within the media sector.

He is now on a mission to accelerate the regeneration of his hometown and help make Ipswich a place its residents are proud of, visitors admire, and businesses can truly thrive.

Alastair Bartlett

One of Suffolk’s most exciting marketing agencies, TiltShift Creative was founded by Alastair in June 2022 having spent 8 years as Head of Media at Suffolk One before falling out of love with teaching.

Growing up in Suffolk and often feeling bored (his words). Alastair channelled that restlessness into learning skills like magic, juggling, and various tricks before eventually focusing on the creative arts and music.

I first met Alastair on a curry night at Shapla in Woodbridge, where he casually dropped one of his best fun facts; he nearly found fame in a well-known band between 2007 and 2010, even performing at Glastonbury twice. Alastair took photos of the band and he got pretty good at it.

TiltShift Creative produces content with a purpose, partnering with premium brands to craft video and photography that go far beyond aesthetics. Their strategic approach ensures every piece of content directly supports their clients’ goals, whether that’s building brand awareness, boosting sales, or creating deeper connections with the audience.
