It was a nail biting final 2 minutes at Portman Road this weekend as Ipswich Town took on Preston North End. Although most of the pressure seemed to be in Ipswich’s favour, they didn’t really show any signs of breaking through the Preston defence to secure the winning goal.

Preston took the lead and held onto it for most of the game but it started to get really serious in the final 2 minutes. Clarke securing and finishing a penalty having been fouled inside the box quickly followed by a very determined town team putting on a great show. Three fantastic opportunities in the space of 30 seconds, some questionable decisions by the referee but no second goal being found.

Speaking to BBC Suffolk after the game, Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna spoke of the 1-1 results:

“It was a tough challenge. They came today with a gameplan, they defended really deep, put an extra body in midfield which they don’t usually do and they made it really hard for us to break them down,” he said.

“We did some good things, we came close a few times but we didn’t quite do enough or execute enough. We need to keep working on it.

“We didn’t quite manage to counter enough throughout the game. Daniel Jebbison was a big threat with his running and then they scored their goal from a set play which was a bit lucky as well to be honest in terms of how it fell but we didn’t defend it well enough.

“After that I thought the reaction from the team and the stadium was really good.”

A great line up in Box 19 this weekend. Accompanying the Bridge Classic Cars regulars we had:

Zac Henstridge

Zac supports the Bridge Classic Cars IT systems. From the website, to emails or phone calls, anything IT related, it’s normally a phone call or a visit to Zac. We have been working alongside Zac at Enable.Services for over 2 years and they have been a fantastic support to our business. The world of technology grows at such a fast pace and it is so difficult to keep up with the demand but with Enable.Services by our side we are very quick to move. We have so much to thank Zac for and although he’s not officially part of the Bridge Classic Cars family he certainly is to us!

They became one of the first UK partners for SugarCRM, a leading open-source customer relationship management system.

Enable.Services now specialise in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems and integrated business solutions. They have secured long-standing partnerships with industry technology providers such as SugarCRM, the world’s leading CRM platform, AI specialist monday.com, marketing automation specialists Mautic, EnableFlow, EnableVoice and EspoCRM.

Ben Rumsey

Ben is no stranger to Portman Road, nor some other football clubs for that matter. Within his role as National Elite Sales for Textron, Ben is mainly seen outside the glass of Box 19, inspecting the pitches and discussing options with the fantastic grounds team of what industrial machinery is requirement to make the pitches look as amazing as they do.

A very brief overview of Textron Inc. One of the world’s best known multi-industry companies, Textron is best known for its powerful brands such as Bell, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pipistrel, Jacobsen, Kautex, Lycoming, E-Z-GO, Textron Systems and many more. The company leverages its global network of aircraft, defense, industrial and finance businesses to provide customers with innovative products and services.

What began over 100 years ago, in 1923, Textron has grown into a £10 billion company, with a worldwide presence supported by 34,000 people in more than 25 countries.

“We will continue to pioneer the future of our industries through the power of our brandsour valuesour employees and our leadership. Above all else, we’ll build upon our history of success by understanding our customers and delivering exciting, new products that go beyond the expected.”

Olly Magnus

Olly joins us at his second home, Portman Road. For those of you who don’t know Olly, best to check out his fantastic interview in Suffolk Director Magazine.

I heard, on three separate occasions, in Burley’s Bar this Saturday people mentioning Olly’s posts on LinkedIn. I didn’t realise LinkedIn had celebrities but Olly’s apparently one of them!

One of his posts has been viewed 1.3 million times. Olly Magnus is someone that will probably be familiar to many of you. It beats my 12 likes and over 50 visibility rating!

In 1973, Paul Magnus established a shipping agency in Felixstowe. But after Paul’s death in 2018, Paul’s son Olly sold his own freight forwarding company to buy shares and bring the business back under family ownership.

The story of the Magnus Group is quite heavily publicised in the press but Box 19 is about the individuals who grace it’s presence, the people behind the business and not necessarily the business behind the people. Olly is very open when talking of his life and career. Having faced his big ups and equally big downs he’s always willing to tell the story and more importantly give light to those that may need it. To have Olly in our box is a privilege.
