What a weekend. A fantastic game of football enjoyed by a brilliant group of people.
We returned to Box 19 this weekend to see Ipswich Town take on Millwall. With just one place separated the two teams, it was always going to be a very close game!
Town remain third ahead of Millwall in fourth on goal difference following the 1-1 with my favourite, Jack Clarke’s securing his 14th goal of the season. Millwall levelled through Josh Coburn five minutes into the second half with both teams putting up a great fight throughout the game.
Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna told BBC Radio Suffolk:
“We should win from where we had it. The performance in the first half was really, really good and we gave them so many problems and dominated the game.
“But we would like to have executed better and should have opened up a two-goal lead to give us that margin, and in the second half we had so many moments on the edge of the box.
“They defended well and got bodies in the way but we still could have executed better to kill the game off. When you don’t, with a team like Millwall you know they carry such a threat and can score from not very much – and they did that with the goal.
“They threw everything at us and your goal is always going to be under threat so the best way is to kill the game at the other end, but we didn’t.
“Jack Clarke played really well. He found some great spaces, the boys found him well and it was a really good performance.”
The day was made even more special by the fact we welcomed a couple of Millwall fans into Box 19 with us. It was a great laugh throughout with some exciting moments for both teams.
Nicola Hume
One of the most versatile and knowledgeable presenters in motorsport media right now, Nicola Hume joined us this week alongside husband Scott, an avid Millwall fan. Nicola even said herself, ‘mega wife points’ landing a place in our box for this fixture!
If you are big into your on-screen motorsport then Nicola will no doubt be a familiar face to you. Known for her confident on-screen presence, married with her brilliantly comical timing and wit, Nicola is hot property right now in the world of motorsport TV.
Nicola and I share a very similar path in our early careers having both started out in radio broadcasting so we had lots to talk about, bringing back amazing memories. We even knew some of the same people, considering we were opposite ends of the country at the time.
Right now, Nicola is Associate Editor at Electrifying.com and up until very recently was the host of Talking Bull, the official Red Bull F1 podcast.
She’s worked with What Car?, CarBuyer, Auto Express and Channel 5 shows such as The Gadget Show and ‘When motorhoming goes horribly wrong’.
A great description by electrifying.com: “Basically, if it drives and goes fast, Nicola loves it.”
She’s also a live presenter at F1 British Grand Prix and Formula E, however she’s yet to do the E1 Series which we briefly spoke about as I had the pleasure of seeing when I visited Qatar last year. That would be a great gig that one; Saudi Arabia, Italy, Croatia, Monaco, Lagos, Miami and Bahamas. I could think of worse places to work…there’s still time to land that role!
Scott Hume
We were joined in Box 19 by Nicola (FYI: Arsenal fan) and her husband Scott (FYI massive Millwall fan). It was great to have Scott in the box for this game. Up to now we have not had any fans of the opposition so this was a first.
As with Nicola, Scott is no stranger to our screens either, having appeared in the 2024 film Apartment 7A, the story of a struggling, young dancer suffering a devastating injury. The story follows her as she finds herself drawn in by dark forces when a peculiar, well-connected, older couple promise her a shot at fame.
Scott’s also appeared in BBC’s The Crown, following the political rivalries and romances of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the events that shaped Britain and our Royal family.
Thank you so much to both Nicola and Scott for travelling some distance for the afternoon to spend time with us in Box 19.
We very much hope to be working on some projects with Nicola sometime soon.
