A chilly but glorious afternoon at Portman Road this weekend for the cup game against Blackpool. Unfortinately Box 19 is not available to us for cup games but that didn’t stop us enjoying the win from inside the gound.
Jaden Philogene’s stunning first-half strike helped Ipswich Town to victory over Blackpool, securing our place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna spoke to the BBC shortly after the game:
“We scored a really good first goal and we could have done better to get a second goal quicker.
“We moved the ball really, really well and got into great positions. We are still working to find the last little bit in some of these games and it took longer to get the second goal than we wanted, but we got it from a set play and then it was a job done.
“The referee has decided to make it interesting, giving them a penalty that wasn’t a penalty, in the 94th minute. That made it a bit tighter but we should have killed the game off a bit earlier.
“Credit to Blackpool, they kept going and did some good things in the game, but we did as well.
“We want to go deep in the FA Cup and look forward to the draw. It would be nice to play a Premier League team, but the league is the priority.”
We return to Box 19 this weekend where we’ll be hosting even more great guests for the game against Blackburn.
