Our restoration technician Jon investigated a reported knock on our 1963 Daimler SP250 here at Bridge Classic Cars. Suspecting the source to be at the rear, possibly from the differential, he carried out a road test and noticed a noise when lifting the clutch. Driving back and forth a few times, he listened carefully as the clutch engaged and noted the pedal felt sharp in first and reverse. While turning, he thought he heard a sound resembling the propshaft.

He then raised the car on the ramp for a visual inspection, checked the rear axle oil and found the level slightly high but clean. During this inspection, he discovered the nearside front wheel was loose, which he corrected by tightening all wheels. He also greased the propshaft and detected a slight noise when rotating it back and forth, though nothing of concern or unsafe. Jon advised that when the customer comes to collect the car, they should demonstrate the noise and the conditions under which it occurs.
