Jonn investigated a knock from underneath our 1969 Daimler 250 V8. The offside exhaust pipe was found to be contacting the heat shield. The shield was removed, the edge trimmed and then refitted. The central exhaust mount was also removed, its holes elongated and then refitted. A small bracket was fabricated to extend the mount and fitted accordingly. The rear mount was noted to be split.

Despite these adjustments, a knock remained during a road test. The vehicle was then placed on a four-post ramp for further inspection, where it was found that the propeller shaft centre mount was offset. Evidence of rubbing was visible, indicating misalignment. The centre mount was slackened, repositioned towards the nearside, and then securely tightened. A final road test confirmed the issue was resolved.
