Tony collected the DB5 from the costumer and brought it to our workshops.

John investigated a non-start issue on our 1965 Aston Martin DB5, which had arrived as a non-runner. The battery was placed on charge, and once fully charged, an attempt was made to start the engine. Although the solenoid clicked, the engine did not crank. John proceeded to clean the terminals at both the solenoid and the starter motor. Following this, the engine was able to crank but still failed to start.

A spark check revealed no ignition spark. Upon inspecting the contact breaker points, John found they were fully closed. He adjusted them to create a suitable gap, which allowed the engine to fire. The points and condenser were then replaced, and the ignition timing was set correctly.

As the vehicle is stored over the winter months, the existing fuel was drained and replaced with P1 fuel. A road test was carried out to confirm all systems were functioning as expected.
