For the first time ever, a battery‑powered electric heavy‑goods vehicle (a big lorry) travelled through the Channel Tunnel using LeShuttle Freight, a special train service that carries lorries and their drivers under the English Channel.
After going through the tunnel, the electric lorry carried on its journey and eventually travelled more than 1000 miles across five different countries!
The electric truck started fully charged at a special depot in the UK. Along the way, it stopped to recharge at fast‑charging stations in the UK, France, and Belgium, showing that electric trucks can keep going even on long trips.
This journey shows that zero‑emission lorries, that don’t produce pollution from their engines, is becoming possible even for big, long‑distance trade routes between countries.
