Let’s say hellow to Louis. He’s an eight-year-old St Bernard who’s making people smile wherever he goes. He has become something of a local celebrity thanks to his owner, Alan, who has found a unique way for them to travel together, by motorbike and side car.
Louis isn’t perched on the bike itself. Instead, he rides in style in his very own specially adapted sidecar, designed to keep him safe and comfortable on every journey.
Alan, 78, and Louis regularly cruise around their hometown in Cambridgeshire, attracting smiles and attention wherever they go.
“People smile as soon as they see us,” said Alan. “We’ve even had people overtake us, pull over and get out just to take pictures.”
And it’s not only the spectators who enjoy the experience. Louis is a huge fan of his unusual mode of transport.
“As soon as I get his harness out, he starts pulling on it, which he doesn’t normally do,” Alan explained. “He gets really excited because he knows he’s going in the sidecar.”
The adventures may soon be getting even bigger. Alan is currently working on a custom-built ‘doggy caravan’ so he and Louis can explore even more places together.
