Celebrating Retirement

Having been our trusted workhorse for many many years, it’s now time to bid a fond farewell to our Mercedes Vito van as it heads into retirement.

But this is certainly not a sad story! This is the beginning of a new career. I wonder how many Mercedes Vito vans have been restored.

That’s exactly what is now happening to the little Vito. Having covered 230,000 miles and never missing a beat we felt it was time to say thank you for how amazing it has been.

The van is now being stripped to gain access the inside areas and to full assess just how much corrosion has developed over the years. The work will then be rectified, new body panels fitted and a lovely new respray.

I’m sure a lot of you would question why going to this much effort on a van that is only worth a few thousand is a good idea…to us, this van is priceless! It is part of the family, it has been with us from almost the beginning and it will remain with us for many years to come. Only now, it will join us for shows.

And maybe one day, when my grandchildren look at this very old van, they’ll lovingly tell the story of how this was the start of their grandfather and great grandfather’s business.
