We recently welcomed the winner of our 1976 Mercedes 350SL, Zhuman Zamiri, to our Suffolk workshop to show him around and take delivery of his new classic.
As he toured the workshops with the Bridge Classic Cars staff, he kept remarking just how impressed he was with the wide range of cars that our team work on in-house. Then, it was finally time for us to unveil his 1976 Mercedes 350SL to him in our brand new workshop extension surrounded by the other competition cars.
Zhuman was speechless and so excited to get his hands on his first real classic. And what a perfect first classic this car really was. The team here at Bridge Classic Cars took him round the car and gave him the run through of everything to do with running and driving the car.
This week, Zhuman sent us a message to say that as a show of thanks to the team here at Bridge Classic Cars he donated to a local charity near to our hearts, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices. An amazing gesture and one which will go to help a very worthy cause.
Thank you Zhuman and we wish you many happy miles of motoring with your 350SL from the whole Bridge Classic Cars team.

Last night, 27th January 2022, Bridge Classic Cars welcomed the first-ever live studio audience to one of our Bridge Classic Cars Competitions live draws.
This time, it was the 1964 Triumph TR4 and 1976 Mercedes 350SL which would be finding their way to their new lucky owners.
Close friends, clients and previous winners were all invited to the event which took place in the new home of Bridge Classic Cars Competitions, the as-yet-unnamed extension. Being January, the evenings are cold but thanks to Carmello Coffee we all managed to keep warm and fed while everyone looked around some of our cars in both the extension and the workshop.
Then, as the clock struck 7 pm, it was time to go live to all our followers. Hayley and Craig, with Freddie behind the camera, took everyone on a tour around our current lineup and a few sneak peeks at what is coming in the future with Bridge Classic Cars Competitions. Hayley then had a chat with our friend Simon Benton, owner of the all-electric Mini which will soon be appearing on the Discovery Channel, about the background on the car and its connection to Bridge Classic Cars.
Next was the bit everyone was waiting for. Finding out who was about to get a phone call that would make their dreams come true.
First, was the draw of the 1976 Mercedes 350SL. As Hayley put the numbers into the random number generator, you could feel the air filled with excitement. Then, as the numbers whirred round in a flash, they stopped on number 3461. That, belong to Zhuman Zamiri.
Then we decided to find out who the new owner of the stunning 1964 Triumph TR4 would be. As Hayley put the new set of numbers into the number generators, we wished everyone luck. Then, with one click of a button. The future of the TR4 was sealed. Stuart Brown was now the proud new owner of the beautiful ’60s sports car with ticket 3338.

This particular 1976 Mercedes 350SL has also only covered 75,000 miles in its lifetime! It has been fully inspected by our in-house restoration teams and had some work done with a local Mercedes Benz marque specialist to ensure it runs as good as it looks.

Our 1976 Mercedes Benz 350SL is back from Derrick Wells, a local Mercedes Specialist, to have a look into some electrical issues with the car.
Now that it is electrical working exactly as it should, it’s time for our Bridge Classic Cars in-house restoration teams to assess the car and come up with a plan to move forward with. First up, it will be mechanically inspected before moving to the other teams for their expert eyes to look over this incredible classic convertible.
The car has so many amazing and wonderful details it’s difficult to capture them but the original Aztec Gold paint looks incredible in the winter sun.

The story with our Aztec Gold 1976 Mercedes 350SL continues but this time at marque specialist Derrick Wells.
After looking into the starting issues that we have had with the car since it came over to be with us at Bridge Classic Cars from Ireland, our in-house technicians thought it best to get the opinion of a true singularly focus specialist.
As you may have known, we bought this car on the understanding that it was in good aesthetic and mechanical condition. That didn’t quite turn out to be true… sometimes you do have to be careful with what you buy even with a car such as this.
As soon as we get an update on the car then expect to see that right here on Bridge Classic Cars.
Ady has been investigating the engine on the 1976 Mercedes 350SL. Initially we were lead to believe this to be a running car but unfortunately it has arrived with us as a non-runner, and he’s found that this is probably due to an electrical fault.
There are two sides to the V8 engine and only one bank works. the right hand bank looks to have been tampered with.
The wiring to the injectors on that bank have been cut and rewired to earth. We don’t understand why someone has done this unless they are trying to cover up something more. There would be no other obvious reasoning. Rewiring to earth could possibly mean the engine can still run, albeit on 4 cylinders as it will hopefully not be sending any fuel into the ‘dead’ side. If it has then we have a problem.
We have replaced the points and adjusted the timing but the car remains on 4 cylinders.
We have then removed the plugs and checked the condition of the number 6 plug which looks to have a carbon build up. We have checked easy access compressions on all cylinders.
We have refuelled the vehicle but as before, the engine can only run on 4 cylinders and is therefore running dangerously rich.
Not the results we were expecting but our 1976 Mercedes SL350 has arrived. This was presented to us as a much loved, beautiful example of the iconic R107 Mercedes SL. Aesthetically speaking, the car is beautiful but our workshops will need to dig a little deeper as we have some underlying issues that need to be addressed.
Unfortunately we have been unable to get the car running. Upon further investigation the car is only running on one of it’s two bank V8 engine. We believe this is due to a wiring issue. Our auto-electrician will hopefully be able to find the fault and hopefully it won’t be too big a job!
Another car which we have recently purchased is this 1976 Mercedes R107 350 SL. With the exterior of the car painted in Aztec Gold and the interior being Chocolate Tex colour, it screams the 1970s. The exterior of the car is in great condition and with the seats being made of vinyl, they’ve done extremely well with the age of the car. In terms of the engine, the vehicle has been kept very original but has had work done to it in the past couple of years. Watch this space to find out when it’s made its way to our workshop!
