The Rebuild Continues

The original carburettor on our 1951 Austin Devon was stripped, thoroughly cleaned, and rebuilt using new seals, gaskets, and a new throttle spindle shaft before being refitted to the car. More Reassembly

The fuel pump on our 1951 Austin Devon was stripped, blasted, and reassembled with new seals and valves before being refitted to the car. The left-hand horn was refurbished and installed. Bonnet mouldings and catches were also fitted. Additionally, the brake master cylinder was overhauled with new seals to restore its proper function.

Austin Devon Trafficators

Rob continued his work on our 1951 Austin Devon, fitting the starter motor and installing the dashboard with all necessary connections. The trafficators were assembled, fitted, and tested. Headlamps were also fitted.

More Rebuild Progress

Work has continued on our 1951 Austin Devon. Rob has been hard at work putting this beautiful classic pickup back together. Each time I go into the workshop, it’s fantastic to see the progress being made and to see it getting closer and closer to going back home.

A Classic Pick Up Back Together

After coming to the end of its time in paint, our 1951 Austin Devon has now begun the process of being rebuilt. It looks great in its original green and it will look even better once the rebuild has been completed.

Our 1951 Austin Devon is slowly coming together. It’s currently going through the paint shop and will soon look as good as new (probably better!) I’m looking forward to seeing the classic pick up go back together and head back home.

Almost Ready For Paint

The remaining panels from our 1951 Austin Devon have been in highbuild primer. The inside and front bulkhead has been done in satin black and it is now very close to getting its original green colour back on.

More Progress

Our 1951 Austin Devon has continued to make good progress recently. It is now prepped for paint and will soon be returned to its original green colour.

Ready For Primer

Our 1951 Austin Devon is now ready for epoxy primer. It’s been a long process but we are now commencing the strip down to the component level in preparation for its final colour in the last week of January.

Devon Going Back Together

After our 1951 Austin Devon was brought back to the workshop, it was reunited with the other part of itself. After being with us for a little while now, it’s fantastic to see this classic pickup coming back together.

Austin Devon Cab

The cab of our 1951 Austin Devon has continued to make progress with painter Alan. After being prepped, epoxy primer was applied to the cab as well as to some of the other components that will eventually go back together as our classic pickup is rebuilt.

Austin Devon Progress

Our 1951 Austin Devon has had its panels stripped off its front end and prepped for epoxy primer. A small repair was made to the inner wing edges before the roof and scuttle panel joints were prepped, cleaned, and lead-loaded. The panels then had epoxy primer applied on both sides.

More Welding

Our 1951 Austin Devon has continued its start in fabrication with Chris. He has welded in the floor corners and seat base frame. He also welded in the right-hand step before sorting out the door gaps and modifying the step to fit the door profile.

Roof And Front End

Our 1951 Austin Devon has been with Christian in the fabrication bay for more work recently. He painted the roof, modified the roof and mounting point, and fitted up and welded on the guttering, before welding the roof onto the truck. Christian also fitted up the front end.

Roof And Floor

Christian has been continuing his work on our 1951 Austin Devon. He has been making the roof guttering fit as well as repairing the right-hand side of the floor. He went on to repair the left-hand side of the floor too. The floors were then fitted up, along with the gearbox tunnel.

Devon Repairs

Christian has been repairing the doors of our 1951 Austin Devon before he fitted up the doors, made the door gaps nice and fit up the roof, before pulling the body square.

John has been working methodically and meticoulsly through the various parts and pieces of the 1951 Austin Devon Pickup. All of these parts have to be stripped back in preparation of them going to be blasted ahead of being rechromed as part of the restoration project.
