Classic car spotted: We’ve spotted this unusual 1969 Morris Minor police car in Eaton, Manchester.
The wonderful Jaguar Mk2 was the epitome of luxury transportation when it first took to the streets in the very late 1950’s. We’ve been approached by a potential client who is looking to give this vehicle a complete restoration.
The Mark 2 Jaguar was used by the British police force, with the 3.8l engine outputting an impressive 220 bhp. Ironically, the Jaguar Mark 2’s were also known for being very popular getaway vehicles of the 60s.
The Jaguar Mark 2, driven by John Thaw’s fictional TV character, Inspector Morse recently sold at auction for over £100,000, this vehicle was the 2.4l version and had been subject to a total restoration.
Our beautiful 1960 Jensen 541R paint is currently setting in our paint booth. As the shall is made of fibreglass, the paint cannot be cured at regular ‘baking’ temperatures. Instead, it’s cured at a less intense 20 degrees. This will mean the car won’t be able to be perfected and polished until next week, but we’re sure the perfect finish will be worth the wait.
Massive thank you to Harvey from Apex Signs for coming down today to apply decals to our Jaguar E-Type Racecar. It really is starting to look ready for the track.
Here at Bridge Classic Cars, we’ve just acquired this 1984 Suzuki GSX 400T motorcycle. This air cooled 400c Suzuki is in dire need some attention. As part of this vehicles restoration, we will be modifying the vehicle in cafe racer style. The current plan is to paint the bodywork cream with a tan leather cafe racer seat. The handlebars will also be lowered to create a sleeker profile to this motorcycle. We can’t wait to see where this project will lead but we’re proud to bring this tired Suzuki back to life.
Ady, our in-house engine specialist here at Bridge Classic Cars is now onto assembling the engine. The following has been completed on this lovely motor.
Some of our Jensen chrome work is now away with the guys and girls at Douglas Metal Finishing. We should hopefully see them back to their best in no time.

Liking our recent post…
We love it when clients of ours send us images like this. Thank you to the owner, Martin for sending us this fabulous picture of his 1968 Jaguar E-Type. The car has been taken for a trip up to the Lake District. It’s wonderful to see such a lovely machine being used and enjoyed on some of the the country’s finest roads.
“At the top of Wrynose pass, Lake District… all done without breaking a sweat ?”
Here at Bridge Classic Cars our engine specialists have been getting our MG A engine ready for assembly. Darren has painted the engine block and Ady has either refurbished or replaced all the other components.
We’ve found a hole in the heater tank of our 1972 Jaguar E-Type series 3. The tank will be replaced and refitted. it’s quite a common fault for a whole to appear in the corner of the heater tank in these cars and it’s relatively straight forward four our technicians to resolve.
Chris has been getting our Jensen 541R ready for paint. He’s been rubbing down and priming the surface to be smooth for paint application. He’s also applied Raptor Coating to the back of panels in order to protect the bodywork form the elements. Now that the car has been masked up, the next stage will see the car finished in a stunning deep black paint.
We can’t get enough of working on cars! After a long week working hard on our clients restoration projects, you’d have thought the team would like nothing more but to put our their feet up on the weekend, right?
Not here at Bridge Classic Cars! The team came in to lend each other a hand, giving their own vehicles some attention this weekend. Freddie and Mauro worked on our Subaru brake hub refurbishment and Dave fixed the lights on our Volkswagen.
We’ve begun work on this beautifully presented Austin Healey 3000. differential fluid was leaking due to a faulty seal. Pete has removed the prop shaft before removing the faulty seal. He then installed a new seal, put the pinion shaft back in and torqued it to the correct settings. He then replaced the prop and filled the differential back up with oil. This lovely vehicle is now back to tip-top shape and is ready for the road again.
Tom has been removing the entire brake system, servicing and cleaning them and is now in the process of reinstalling them back onto the car.

Ady, Bridge Classic Cars’ engine specialist has been hard at work getting our beetle back on the road. He has replaced the spark plugs as she was only running on 3 cylinders. He’s installed a distributor clamp to reduce engine shake and changed the oil to keep the engine as healthy as possible.
Dave has been working on our 1972 Jaguar E-Type. It’s quite common for the air box’s on E-Types to corrode in the wheel-side corner. Dave has repaired the airbox ready to be sent down to our paint shop.
This Daihatsu seat has entered our trim shop today for a seat bolster repair. The damaged areas will be replaced with perfect matching red leather.
Wow, what a beauty! Our gorgeous deep blue Jaguar E-type is with Pete for a service. The tan leather interior compliments the striking blue interior so well. We’ll be sad to see this one leave us.
Our luxurious V8 Daimler is to the paint shop with Darren and Chris for a minor paint repair.
Our VW beetle has come into Bridge Classic cars for engine restoration works. Ady, our engine specialist, is now diagnosing any issues the engine may have and we’re sure he’ll be able to get this cute little Beetle back to it’s owner soon.
Tom has been making great strides in the restoration of our 1962 TVR Grantura. He’s recently serviced the brakes, fabricated new brake lines and fitted a new battery.
Our 1962 TVR Grantura Racecar has peaked the attention of TVR enthusiasts. Shared to three of the largest TVR fan pages, there is certainly a lot of interest in our one-of-a-kind Grantura Racecar. We have to agree that this car’s racing heritage and gorgeous patina make this car a classic well worth sharing.

Late last night we collected our 1970 Eagle SS. This kit car is based on a VW Beatle chassis. However, the dramatic bodywork styling is a far cry from the original Beatle. Remarkably, these cars only weigh around 750kg and owners state these are great little cars to drive.
This vehicle will be available for sale at Bridge Classic Cars soon.
It’s a sad day indeed. Friend of Bridge Classic Cars, Car Crazed Fool has sold his 1970 Plymouth Superbird. While we’re sad to see her go, I’m sure there will be something equally exciting coming as a replacement.
“The 1970 Superbird was always a childhood icon for me and owning this one over the last 5 years has been a absolute honour. She has given 100s of smiles per mile. A true legend. #birdistheword “
Check out Car Crazed fool’s blog post here. It features some simply stunning photography from Matt Richardson.
Something a little different is coming in today. This lovely Daihatsu Copen!
The Copen is a Japanese kei car. The kei car category was devised by the Japanese government in 1949. These regulations specify a maximum vehicle size, engine capacity of 660cc and power output, so that owners may enjoy both tax and insurance benefits.
Ady’s finished up work on our Mercedes 220 Engine rebuild. The engine has had a brand new bespoke machined flywheel, valve seals cut, valves refaced and new valve guides. The camshaft has been re-profiled and the engine block completely re-bored. The crank shaft has been re-ground along with new gaskets and bearings being fitted.
Check out the video below to see her up and running for the first time!
