Dino Welding

Christian has been continuing his work on our 1973 Ferrari Dino.

He fabricated and started welding in the front valance and removed the heater blowers.

While he was doing that, Steve cleaned the rubber cups and gaiters from the suspension before putting the springs back on the shock absorbers.

The front end was also repaired.

Dino Progress

Christian has been busy fabricating the lower front right valance of our 1973 Ferrari Dino.

Tony also loaded up the wheels of this classic sports car to deliver them to be refurbished.

A Cobra Taking Shape

Mauro has continued his work on our 1975 AC Cobra Replica and it is now really starting to take shape.

MGB GT Dent Repair

An old friend has recently returned to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop in the form of our 1968 MGB GT. While it is here, Mauro has been repairing the dents in the front lower panel. He then primed the panel ready for paint.

Ferrari Stone Guards

Christian has been repairing the stone guards on our 1979 Ferrari 400 GT.

Devon Progress Continues

As our 1951 Austin Devon is a commercial vehicle, it has unfortunately had a tough life and the seats are certainly showing this. The driver’s side base has been bolstered with additional springs to try and prolong its life, but the outer frame has broken on both sides and required welding.

The same for the back, which had also broken. Lydia has covered the seat in new backing cloth, which provides a stable base for the horse hair to be put on top. Once the horsehair arrives, Lydia can continue fitting the seat covers she has made.

While Lydia was doing that, the bonnet and some of the other components were having epoxy primer applied.

Dino Progress

Christian has been repairing the sill and fabricating new sill parts for our 1973 Ferrari 246 GTS.

Austin Devon Progress

Our 1951 Austin Devon has had its panels stripped off its front end and prepped for epoxy primer. A small repair was made to the inner wing edges before the roof and scuttle panel joints were prepped, cleaned, and lead-loaded.

The panels then had epoxy primer applied on both sides.

MGA In Paint

Our 1960 MGA has been in the paint shop with Chris. The holes have been welded and the panel has been painted.

Rover P5 Welding And Rust Repairs

Christian has been completing some welding repairs on our 1973 Rover P5 Coupe before investigating some rust issues.

Paintshop manager Chris then applied schutz undercoat to the underside of the car.

Reprofiling the Rear Arch on the 1975 Cobra Replica

Our body shop team have been working on the 1975 Cobra Replica which is going through its restoration journey at the Bridge Classic Cars workshops.

Whilst working on the panels gaps and line up, Mauro noticed that the relationship between the rear tyres and trailing edges of the arch was different from side to side. After checking that the axle was square in the chassis, which it was, the team found that it was an issue with the mold when the body was cast. So, Mauro had to carefully measure, cut and sections the rear part of the arch to make sure it was even on both sides of the car before fibreglassing it back into the body and then could continue his work on shaping the bodyshell.

A Few Quiet Moments with our 1960 MGA Roadster

As this project comes closer to completion, earlier this week before the Bridge Classic Cars restoration team began work on the 1960 MGA Roadster I got a few quiet minutes to photograph this truly stunning classic sports car.

The paint and body team have worked incredibly hard to perfect the fit and finish of this wonderfully nostalgic machine. So, I had to take this opportunity before they take the car back into our paint and body department to finish off and finesse the last few bits and pieces.

Repairing the 1973 Dino 246 GTS

The beautiful 1973 Dino 246 GTS which is in the fabrication bay at our Pettistree workshops has been under the skilled knife of our fabrication Christian. For this stage of repairs to the 70’s sports car, Christian has been repairing the passenger side of the car.

To begin with, Christian has begun to repair the inner arch section. The original section was cut out of the car and used as a template for him to create a perfectly fitting replacement specifically for this area of the car. To do this area, Christian (along with the help of the technicians in the workshop) removed the passenger door from the car but this also gave him the opportunity to begin repairs to the bottom of the doors. Much like the inner arch, this area’s replacement panel has be specially made specifically to fit the Dino perfectly and give the best fit and finish for the car.

Close to Perfection – Our 1975 Jensen Interceptor is finished

Our paintshop have finished work on our 1975 Jensen Interceptor here at the Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ. This car has had a considerable amount of work done by both our fabrication team and our paint and body team, each and every hour poured into this car perfectly illustrates the skill of our team.

Finished in a stunning shade of Bronze, this classic Jensen will be heading back to its owner who has chosen to finish the restoration themselves and we are so excited to see the finished car hopefully very soon.

Delicate Work – Repairing the Sills on our 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead Coupe

The 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead Coupe is in the fabrication shop at the Bridge Classic Cars with one of our master fabricators, Clinton.

This time, he is repairing some considerable damage to offside sill of the rare vintage sports car. There is quite a significant section missing from sill of the car which is believed to be old accident damage which had never been properly repaired. This time however, Clinton is repairing it the right way. Carefully making new sections of the sill and reinforcing it in places put back the strength needed in this section as with this convertible car, all of its structural rigidity is held in the sill and the frame.

We’re very fortunate to have an incredible fabrication shop with two extremely talented fabricators.

Getting Back Into Shape – 1973 Dino 246GTS

Our fabrication team have been hard at work in the metal shop at the Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ. On the ramp at the moment is the 1973 Dino 246GTS.

Our fabricator Christian has been hard at work getting this underrated and beautiful sports car back into the best shape possible. He’s been finishing off the rear valance repairs before moving on to beginning a repair to the passenger side front wing. This repair is being done in stages to check fitment and ensure the best final finish of the piece.

Prep and Progress on the 1960 Jensen 541R

Our paint and body team have been hard at work moving forward on bringing our 1960 Jensen 541R back to life. Chris, our body and paint specialist, has spent a lot of time working the fibreglass on the classic GT car to get it not only structurally sound but in the best position to be worked later.

The fibreglass contained lots of small cracks, holes and imperfections which Chris had to reglass by hand before allowing them to cure and then be sanded back and rechecked, before the hole car and all panels taken into the booth to have its first layers of epoxy primer laid down.

Meanwhile, our fabricator (also called Chris) has made up a new set of bonnet stay brackets specifically to work with this chassis.

A 90’s poster car arrives – the Ferrari 355

We welcome an iconic prancing horse into the workshops today. Our 1996 Ferrari 355 in for some minor body repairs and paint alterations.

Chris is making some adjustment to try to improve the alignment of the rear bumper.

And then gets to work on a little paint work required on the front. Surface rust has been removed and treated with rust inhibitor. The scuttle panel has then been primed and is ready for paint.

Our DB2/4 In Fabrication

Clinton has spent a lot of time recently working on our 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead.

He has been fabricating and repairing various structural parts of the body including the rear arches, wings, inner rear wings, various panels, and a lot of components that hold the rear of the car together.

The car has been in the Bridge Classic Cars fabrication bay, with Chris and Clinton for a little while now. This is an important part of the restoration as the work they are doing is essentially the foundation for the rest of the car to be built.

Fabricating Dino Parts

Chris has been cutting out the rear valance and fabricating a new part on our 1973 Ferrari Dino.

He then fabricated a wing patch and sill section before cutting more rust out on the right-hand sill.

Porsche 914 Paint Prep

Mauro has been prepping our 1973 Porsche 914 for paint. Once it was fully prepped and masked up, it was ready for colour to be applied.

Interceptor In Colour

Chris has been painting our 1975 Jensen Interceptor MK3. Once it was painted, Chris began the process of rubbing it down and polishing.

As you can see from the images below, it’s looking great already!

Prepping A Porsche 914 For Paint

Our 1973 Porsche 914 has been in the Bridge Classic Cars Paint shop. While in there, Mauro has been stripping the car down and prepping it for prime. Once this was complete primer was applied.

Back to its core – stripping our 1973 Ferrari 246 GTS

The 1973 Ferrari 246GTS ‘Dino’ has been in the Bridge Classic Cars workshops for a few weeks now with the restoration team getting started on revitalizing this iconic sports car. Most recently, the car has been in with our body team aswell as our workshop teams to begin the process of repairing corroded and damaged sections of the car.

To begin with, the workshop team have been carefully removing all of the trims and accessories from the exterior of the car – making sure to catalogue and document each piece that is removed for the moment when it is ready to come back together in our brand new finishing workshop.

After that, the car could be transferred into our body shop for Chris and his team to begin the process of taking the cars paintwork back to reveal areas of corrosion and damage highlighted during the cars assessment. Most notably, the sills which have actually corroded all the way through in places along with other areas which will require the careful and delicate attention of our fabricator, also called Chris.

Interceptor In Paint

Our 1975 Jensen Interceptor MK3 has been in the Bridge Classic Cars paint shop with Chris.

He prepped the inside and underneath of the car ready for dtm and raptor. He then applied epoxy to all of the inside and engine bay.

Chris then applied dtm satin black and raptor to the inner wheel arch parts.

Colour was also applied to the back of the doors and hinges.

More Paint And The Rebuild Begins

Our 1960 MGA has continued its stay in the Bridge Classic Cars paint shop. Mauro painted the wings while Chris painted the rest of the car before the rebuild began.

Preparations – Getting the 1960 MGA Roadster ready for paint

Mauro has been continuing his work on getting our 1960 MGA Roadster ready to get back into colour!

He first off finished several pieces of trim with a light skim of filler before getting them into primer to be ready to shoot colour with the rest of the car.

With the trims and smaller panels in primer, Mauro could turn his attention to getting the larger panels and the body ready to head back into our spray booth to bring the MGA back to life in colour!

He carefully applied a sanding coating to show any possible low spots on the panel work, but after sanding each individual piece had gone back to the flat white colour which shows that the car is nearly ready for paint.
