We’ve had to keep these photos under wraps for some time but we’ve officially been given the go-ahead so let’s go!
Some would say it’s a story reminiscent of that of Charles Steward Rolls and Henry Royce meeting at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. Others would disagree…
Back in August 2025 a meeting took place between Max from Coachbuilt Whisky and Mike from Ress.Ltd in the Classic Lounge at Bridge Classic Cars. At the time we had no idea what it was all about and to be honest, even after the meeting we still didn’t really know what it was all about but we were allowed to take some pictures.
Turns out, this one of one masterpiece, which as you can see from the images had not been completed by this time would eventually make it’s way to Sotheby’s for a charity auction.
The piece was in the final stage of completion and the meeting was for Mike to show Max the progress.
For the final auction, the bottle would be replaced with one much rarer and unique but our half-full (or half-empty), depending on your preference was on hand to be the stand-in model.

The Distillers One of One 2025 auction details were released a month after these images were taken with the completed piece looking incredible.
The auction showcases some of the worldโs most distinguished and rare whisky. The Distillers One of One has grown in popularity since it’s first one took place 3 years ago and now returning at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh, on Friday 10 October 2025.
Proceeds from all lots will go to benefit The Distillers’ Charity and The Youth Action Fund.
