Jonn carried out a full appraisal of our 1991 Porsche 944 S2 Coupe. He raised the vehicle, removed all four wheels and untwisted the offside front flexi hose. All brakes were cleaned and any dust was blown off, followed by shining the calipers using a rag and WD40. Once complete, he refitted the wheels, torqued them correctly and inflated the tyres.

He then investigated a fault with the nearside front fog light, which was not working. The screws holding the light to the bumper were found to be corroded, so Jonn drilled off the screw heads and removed the light. After disconnecting it, he took the unit to the bench, removed the fixing bracket and drilled out the corroded screws. Using a Power Probe 3, he powered up the light to test the bulb and confirmed it was blown, so a replacement bulb was ordered. He then refitted the fixing bracket to the bumper.

Further checks revealed the nearside rear sidelight was dim due to a 24v bulb having been fitted. This was replaced with a correct 12v bulb and tested, which resolved the issue. The nearside washer jet was also unblocked and tested, and the alarm module was tucked securely back under the driver’s side dash.

Jonn removed the centre console armrest lid and passed it to Lydia to replace the inner cover; she will also be making a pair of straps for the glovebox tethers. The nearside electric window switch was taken out, cleaned with contact cleaner and worked back and forth before being refitted and tested, now operating correctly. Lastly, he removed the front under shield in preparation for cleaning.

Jonn investigated the issue with the interior lights not working on our 1991 Porsche 944 S2 Coupe. After confirming that the fuse was intact, he removed the interior light unit and carried out a test. He cleaned the contacts and worked the switch back and forth, which restored function in the manual position, but the light still failed to operate when the doors were opened.

He then removed the driver’s door pin switch, cleaned the earth contact and carried out testing, which confirmed it was now functioning correctly. After reconnecting and refitting the switch, the interior lights were working as intended from both doors.

Jonn refitted the centre console armrest lid to our 1991 Porsche 944 S2 Coupe following the completion of its recovered interior section. He then cleaned the under shield in the degreasing tank, blew it off, wiped it dry and rinsed down the power steering pump before refitting the under shield.

He adjusted the tangs inside the cigarette lighter to ensure it now holds in securely, then fitted a new rear wiper. A new H3 bulb was installed in the nearside front fog light, which was then refitted and tested, confirming it was operating correctly.

Jonn removed the glovebox lid to fit the new straps Lydia had made, then refitted the lid. He proceeded to remove the glovebox itself, drilled and fixed the straps in position, and refitted the glovebox to complete the task.
