Jonn continued with the appraisal and repair work on our 1958 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite. He checked the oil levels in both the rear axle and gearbox, topping up where necessary, and proceeded to grease all lubrication points. The brakes were stripped down and inspected, then cleaned and adjusted. He investigated an issue with the handbrake not fully returning and found that while the nearside rear wheel cylinder operated with the handbrake, it was seized. The brake drums and wheels were then refitted to ensure the car could be moved for random inspections scheduled for Monday.
He also removed, cleaned, and regapped the spark plugs, checked the contact points, and placed the wheel brace inside the vehicle. Additionally, the engine heater valve was wire brushed to remove surface buildup.
