On The Horizon – Enquiry into refreshing a Triumph Spitfire

It’s a sad fact about classic cars. Sometimes, they end up sitting idle in a garage under a cover for longer than they should do. Weeks turn to months, months turn to years.

That’s unfortunately what’s happened with this Triumph Spitfire. The gentleman who owns this very complete example has asked us to look into refreshing the car getting her back to her former glory. Our in-house team will be assessing the photos sent over to us to see if there is anything we can do to help with its sympathetic restoration.

Keep an eye on the news page for any further news on this survivor Spitfire at Bridge Classic Cars in Suffolk, UK.

Alfa Arrival

Yesterday we welcomed this beautiful 1972 Alfa Romeo Spider Series 2 into our hanger as this lovely motor will soon be up for sale.

Coated in a stunning orange with a summer-appropriate soft top, this Alfa is the perfect car for cruising down the country lanes during the summer or taking a scenic road trip around Monaco. This spritely orange beauty has an aroma of youth and holds the perfect key to relive the golden age of cruising sports cars.

A Dashing Porsche 911

We’ve had the honour of working on a Porsche 911 interior recently. The dashboard needed to be refurbished, so our trim shop set out to fix it up.

Kath drew around the old dash in vinyl to create a template. This template was test fitted to the trim and tweaked to ensure the perfect fit. Once Kath was happy with the vinyl she marked out the various trim pieces onto leather, before cutting out, and sewing together. The top stitching has been done in a grey thread to ensure the trim looks neat.

By working the cover around the dash, the new leather starts to fit. Fitting the stitched side first and gradually pulling and fitting the rest around the dash. The last step is to trim around the edges and turn the ends under for a perfect finish.

Is your interior looking a bit tired? There’s no job too big or too small for our talented Trim team! Get in touch with us today to see how we can help.

Road Runners Rinse

Our striking 1971 Lotus Europa that arrived with us last week is having her first wash in well over ten years.

After spending her entire life as part of the Dew family in Suffolk, having been passed down through the generations, it was finally time for the Lotus to be welcomed into a new family; the Bridge Classic Cars family.

Like most barn find classics, we first needed to give her a well-deserved and thorough scrub.

We’re still toying with the idea of removing her Road Runner sticker from the side panel. It certainly brings some fun to the classic sports car, but it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea that’s for sure!

Next we plan to remove the gearbox, recommission the brakes and service the engine.

Hopefully she’ll be be back to her road-running self in no time!
