Another Happy Winner

Tony recently delivered our 1973 MGB Roadster to lucky winner Graham.

Tony says this is always the best part about his job here at Bridge Classic Cars – seeing the winners see their new classic for the very first time.

Preparing Our MGB For Delivery

The two Johns have been completing the preparations for our 1973 MGB Roadster to be delivered to its new owner very soon.

John replaced the heater valve and heater control cable before replacing the heater knob too. He also topped up the coolant before cleaning the connections to the rev counter.

Jonn carried out the pre-delivery inspection and made a note of a couple of small jobs he would like to do before signing the car off to be delivered.

MGB Prep

Here are Jonn’s notes for his recent work on our 1973 MGB Roadster:

Remove both headlights for replacement. Clean chromes and tighten spring to nearside bucket. Remove offside steering rack gaiter and check where play is. Remove pinion plate and spring. Found 3 shims inside. Remove all shims and refit spring and plate. Test rack and its a bit tight lock to lock. Repeat process and refit 1 shim and retry. Ok now. Refit and secure rack gaiter.

Rob also removed the LH front shock absorber and replaced it. He then fitted new headlight units and checked the beam settings.

MGB Repairs

Jonn has continued his work on our 1973 MGB Roadster. Here are his notes:

Continue repairs. Restick all,carpets in boot. Investigate reverse lights not working. Found offside light not connected and bulb blown in nearside. Replace bulb and test, ok. Refit spare and secure. Check heater fan not working. No power to fan. Wire direct to live and fan works. So investigate switch. Remove switch and found a wire off. Reconnect and test, ok. Replace bulbin interior light. Light now works but switch broken so will only work when turned on and not from door pin switches. Raise and remove front anti roll bar D bushes. Tape up bar and refit bushes. Attend to running issues. Remove suction Chambers and pistons from both carbs. Clean out float bowls and blow out. Clean parts. Set jet depths to approx 1 mm. Rebuild and start up.

Inspection And Repairs

Before our 1973 MGB Roadster is delivered to its new owner, Jonn has been checking it over and making some repairs. Here are his notes:

Carry out inspection. Get on ramp and check over. Top up rear axle and grease all points.

Continue inspection. Strip and free off frontbbrakes. Strip clean and inspect rears. Refit drums and adjust. Refit all wheels and knock up tight. Check and inflate tyres. Put new jack in boot. Empty boot ready to restick carpets.

Bridge Classic Cars at the Festival of Classic & Sports Cars at Helmingham Hall

We had the privilege of being the headline sponsors of the Festival of Classic & Sports Cars at Helmingham Hall this past weekend, and it was a huge success. As the main sponsors, we wanted to make a big impression, and we’re thrilled to say we think we did just that!

A Stand to Remember

Our stand proved to be very popular with visitors to the show. Thanks to the incredible canvas setup from Events Under Canvas, we had a comfortable and inviting space. The seating area was perfect for people to relax, chat, and enjoy the cars. It wasnโ€™t just about the vehicles for us; it was about creating a great atmosphere where everyone could share their love for classic cars.


Interesting & Unique Vehicles

The real stars of our stand were the rare and interesting classic cars and bikes we had on display. Each one had its own story such as our 1905 Riley 9HP, 1939 Jaguar SS100, 2022 C-Type Replica, or our beautiful 1959 Ford Zephyr.

All of the cars on our stand generated a lot of interest and got lots of attention. The whole team were very excited to talk to people about each one and tell their stories.


The Live Draw

One of the highlights of the day was our live draw to find the winner of our stunning 1958 Austin Healey 100/6. As it ended up being a local winner, we were hopeful he might be in attendance at the show but, unfortunately, it wasn’t to be and we had to settle with speaking to him on the phone.


A Day of Fun and Team Spirit

The whole day was great fun for both the visitors and our team. We enjoyed every moment, from setting up the stand to chatting with fellow enthusiasts.

Very simply…itโ€™s days like these that remind us why we love what we do.

Looking Forward to Next Year

As we packed up at the end of the day, we were already excited about next yearโ€™s event. Weโ€™re eager to build on this yearโ€™s success and bring even more excitement to the Festival of Classic & Sports Cars at Helmingham Hall. Weโ€™re brainstorming ideas to make our stand even bigger and better and can’t wait to share our plans.

With its beautiful gardens and historic architecture, itโ€™s the perfect setting for a day dedicated to appreciating the beauty and history of classic vehicles.
