Set up began early for us on this year’s stand at the Festival of Classic & Sports Cars at Helmingham Hall Gardens. The week prior to the event was glorious sunshine all week and the forecast looked good going in to the weekend so with that in mind we started the installation of the stretch tent from our friends at Events Under Canvas on the Thursday. That meant we were able to start transporting our vehicles over to site and start to lay out the display.
It was certainly less hectic this year having time on our side and the centre tent was a new feature for us this year which was an exciting new addition.
Sunday morning was a bit of a breeze to be honest. A few banners and flags to put up and then we could sit down as a team, grab a coffee and enjoy the surroundings.
The day itself is always so busy at the show that you don’t really get time to enjoy what else is there. This year especially, I didn’t even get to leave the stand so I didn’t manage to see any of the cars on display but Nick, Molly and Rob got to enjoy it a bit more when they were out and about filming the show.
You can check out the proper photos from the day here
And after a full on day which was a huge success, I think the part that was truly quite special was being the last to leave the site after clearing down. I dropped Tamas back off by his car on the top field and then had the opportunity to look back at the incredible all. A few hours previous to these photos the fields were bustling with thousands of cars and spectators all enjoying the atmosphere.
The Festival of Classic & Sports Cars is one of the best shows of the year for us and this year was one of the best of all time. Thank you so much to the team at Helmingham and we are so proud to be a big part of this show and hope to continue our relationship for many years to come.
Last Saturday I battled the cold and took the family over to the magical world of light, colour and sound and Helmingham Hall Gardens.
We enjoyed a lovely mulled wine, hot chocolate and marshmallows toasted over an open fire before exploring the grounds of Helmingham Hall adorned with thousands of lights which transformed the gardens into an enchanted winter wonderland.
One of the Bridge Classic Cars technicians, Tamas, was there with us at the 2022 Helmingham Hall Classic & Sports Car Festival and brought his camera along.
He has sent over these amazing photos he shot throughout the day for everyone to take a look at!
Our director, Gordon, brought along his 1934 MG PA Midget to the 2022 Helmingham Hall Classic & Sports Car Festival this past weekend.
The classic pre-war MG was shown just away from our stand next to our lovely 1950 Land Rover Series 1.
Held in association with the Suffolk Vehicle Enthusiasts Club (SVEC). Over 7,000 people attended the 2021 festival.
Over 1000 vehicles attend, representing the last 10 decades of motoring history, including many from Britain’s motoring heyday – marques on display included Alvis, Bristol, Jensen, AC Riley, Armstong Sideley, Lea Francis, Crossley, BSA, Lagonda, Lanchester and Gordon Keeble. The oldest vehicle seen on display was a 1914 Ford Model T and the latest sports car models have included the Chevrolet Corvette and Ford Mustang’s as well as Ferraris’ and Porsche.
Bridge Classic Cars will be there! Pop by our stand to meet the team and take a look at our 1971 MG B Roadster which will be won that afternoon.
Start: 10AM
Finish: 5PM
After its full check-over by the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, the latest competition car was given the green light to go off for a very special shoot.
The soft and warm light of a summer’s evening set the perfect backdrop for a drive in a classic roadster. The delicate rays of light dancing over its British Racing Green paintwork only highlighted the timeless shape and sophistication of our 1971 MG B Roadster.
The location only added to that air. The stunning Helmingham Hall here in Suffolk, where our MG B Roadster will be won in just over 2 weeks’ time.
The team transported the car into the grounds of the country estate which would be used as the location for this shoot. The team jostled the car into position, perfectly framed by the brick archway of the entrance to the main house, before it was let loose on the grounds with Lucy and Lily at the helm of the classic roadster. The beautiful 1.8-litre 4-cylinder happily singing past the rows of oak trees that line the estate’s meandering roads.
With the roof down, the MG B’s beautiful black interior set a wonderful contrast against its driver and passenger. Highlighting the depth and grace of these much-loved sports cars.
It could have been a scene from a 1970s arthouse film – The amber hues from the building’s glorious red brickwork falling on the parched grass only to be shocked by the richness of the green on the car.
The magical nature of a roadster in summer is something all enthusiast drivers can appreciate. That feeling of letting the outside in, noticing the sights and sounds missed when completely enveloped in the steel and glass canopy of a coupe. Driving purely for the love of driving, nowhere to really go and no time to be there.
This sense of freedom, the air of sophistication and the theatre of life in a classic convertible could be yours. You could win this 1971 MG B Roadster! Head over to the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website and get your tickets now for this amazing car. The live draw is due to take place at the Helmingham Hall Festival of Classic and Sports Cars on August 4th 2022.

What a weekend! Now we’re back at base, it’s time for a re-cap of another classic car-fueled weekend. After a canceled 2020 show, Helmingham hall played backdrop for a wonderful show. Charlotte and the Bridge team were all at the show to present our restoration projects and current competition lineup. We even closed out the show by drawing the winner of our 1959 Jaguar MK1 which was Shaun Clarke, with ticket number 1486.
Here are a few snaps we took at the show.
Were you at the show? It was lovely to meet so many of you yesterday.

Yesterday saw the return of the Bridge Classic Cars Classic and Sports Car and Bike Show and what an amazing return it was!
The two part event started off at The Hangar, home to Bridge Classic Cars Competitions and our showroom. Located in the beautiful RAF Bentwaters, Rendlesham, IP12 2TZ we saw hundred’s of cars turn up to get ready for one of Suffolk’s biggest classic car convoys!
From 10am we all set off together through the town of Woodbridge up to the Bridge Classic Cars Workshops, Main Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP13 OHH for drinks and lunch!Â
The event was completely FREE to attend and as weather was on our side we welcomed a huge array of cars to both sites.
Jake from The Original Friendly Classic Car Group and Suffolk Vehicle Enthusiast Club shared a fantastic assortment of photos from the day to his social platforms.Â
@bloomers_flying_shadow shared an image of the Shadow arriving home after the show.
@jasondale1980 attended with his lovely little Mini. We love a Mini here at Bridge Classic Cars.
Andy James posted a picture of his 1954 Ford Popular with the caption “the weather was much kinder than expected, the long slog from the Fens was definitely worth the effort. Thanks chaps”
Thank you for coming, was lovely to see so many cars and a lot of you travelled from far and wide so thank you even more!
Tony from Wyatt Polishing was present at both sites to enjoy and experience the convoy with us in his classic Rover.
Jay Baggott liked the look of our 1983 VW Golf Mk1
Local classic car enthusiasts Gary Farrow and John English shared some pictures to their feeds from our Bentwater’s site on the day.
Keep the images coming in. Was lovely to see lots of locals coming out of their homes to watch, video and photograph the convoy head through Rendlesham and Woodbridge.
Check out Craig and Freddie having a looking around the main workshops on the day!
