Hailed as the modern successor to the legendary BMW E30 M3, the 1M took the world by storm on its release. This rare, straight-six powered miniature meanie is a rare sight to see, especially in the UK and in all black.
BMW M, or M Division, was created in the mid-1970s as BMW’s in-house performance wizards. They took ordinary, everyday road cars and created some of the most sought-after and legendary performance cars until today – with the likes of the M1, M3, M4, M5, M6 etc. In the late 2000’s, M would take the humble 1 series coupe and essentially grafted in elements from the M3 and M4 to create the 1M (not to be confused with the late 70s supercar, the M1).
With only a few hundred of these rare coupes arriving in the UK, most were ordered in colours like Orange and Blue. But this one was ordered in Black with Black leather, making it one of only a handful of cars to be specified like this – making it even closer to its forefather, the fabled E30 M3, whose most common colour was black.
Although we mainly work on classic and vintage vehicles, all of us at Bridge Classic Cars have an appreciation for modern cars which try to rekindle that old-school analogue feel – the 1M being one of those rare machines. Thank you to Chris for bringing it over and lighting up our late afternoon here at the Suffolk HQ.
What’s your thoughts on the BMW 1M?
We’ve been incredibly lucky to have Deimante aka @tomboy_a_bit down at our hanger at Bentwaters again to shoot with some of our cars! Deimante and her partner took some time to shoot with our beautiful BMW last week and produced some stunning shots!
You can check out her post here or view them below!
On a brisk winter’s morning, we headed out to Aurora in Ipswich to shoot our dazzling and understated Imola Red 1998 BMW Z3M. We had the help of our friend and model, Zey, who helped us out on the shoot as our talented model and driver.
This car is now up for grabs as part of our competition draw, for which you can find out more here.
Our 1998 BMW Z3 M Roadster has been sent to the Paint Shop to be stripped down for respray, primed, bumps, and scrapes fixed and rust removed.
Once the dents had been corrected and the body sanded and stripped, it was time for the BMW to receive a high build primer coat which allows the paint to stick. The next stage will be for the BMW to go back to the spray booth for masking and respray.
This stunning car will soon be up for grabs in one of our competitions! Keep your eyes peeled for a smart red modern classic coming your way!
We promised earlier in the week you’d see some professional shots of the 1989 BMW M3 following her full paint job. So here she is!
Finished in the quintessential Diamond Schwartz, this stunner of an 80’s classic came to use with dents, scratches and fractures which have all now been rectified.
The BMW M3 was and still is one of the most desirable 80’s icons, well that, and Madonna… We’ll let you decide who’s aged better!
Our 1989 BMW M3 E30 was left gleaming this week after a full valet by Viper Auto Valet, following the paint job we carried out on her recently.
So happy was her owner, he just had to share the news with our good friends at Vint-tro. Including some gleaming pictures of his pride and joy.
She’s looking as fierce as ever!
The Bridge paint team Darren and Chris were excited to get their hands on the beautiful 1989 BMW M3 E30 last week to give her a full body paint job.
“She was in for a tidy up” Darren described. “She had stress fractures at the front in the fiber glass, lots of dents and scratches and even golf ball dents in the roof”.
Finished in a stunning Diamond Schwartz, she’s had all her dents corrected and been fully primed, prepped and painted. Doesn’t she look awesome!
We can’t wait for our photography extraordinaire Freddie to capture her in all her glory. Keep your eyes peeled for the professional shots to follow…
Visiting our workshops this week and due in to have work completed in August we have our incredible 1989 BMW M3. Already causing quite a stir from an Instagram story we issued, the BMW M3 E30 has to be one of the most desirable classics from the 80s.
We’ve already had messages asking whether she’ll be for sale and the answer is no, not yet anyway ๐ The car has been brought over from Spain by it’s current owner who intends on using it as one of his incredible daily drivers.
In with us to have the bodywork tidied up and a full re-spray we’ll have more pictures for you in August.

Great job, Pete. This M3 is really starting return to her former glory now.
